The bolt pattern on H-D trike rear wheels is 4x4.25" or 4x108mm. This bolt pattern was used on some Ford and Dodge products. Stock Harley trike rear wheels are 15Dx5.5W" with 2.25" backspacing. Harley Lugs are 1/2" - 20 threads. I verified this when I put my Cragars on.

So essentially any wheel that has or can be adapted to the 4x4.25 pattern will work. The adapter width can be used to manage net backspacing for wide wheels.

Take a look at post#3. I think Free Bird gave you the info you want. You could also get your stock wheels either chromed or chrome-look powder coated.

I don’t think I found any cragars with those numbers, hoping he could be more specific. I am looking for something other than Harley wheels.

    Hi Harrison,

No the Cragar does not have an HD wheel pattern, you have to buy and fit an adapter that bridges the connection between the 4 lug Harley hub and the 5 lug wheel. It works kind of like the illustration below I made for another member of the forum (except the Harley has on 4 lugs not 5) . There are details of this on the Freewheeler Chopper Project posts. Hope that helps

There is a wheel store on Page close to 170, maybe they could help. I would take them the stock wheel info from post #3 that Free Bird provided. Those tires on his are massive.

I like the stock wheels, I just need to coat them with something when it warms up.

My son thinks I should powder coat them, but I'm gonna try polishing & coating 1st.

That is a REALLY good point. My tires and wheels were very purposefully put on my bike. As MDO points out they are unusually wide and tall (29x18). I worked for several months to design a way that would get them just right so they were not a degradation to performance (they ride REALLY nice). BUT ... There are trade offs for their installation. You are de facto carrying a passenger at all times as far as the bike is concerned as they are HEAVY. They also require the elimination of the fenders and stiffening of the wheel bearings (which voids the differential warranty). So the decision to go down this path is not a light one.

There is a narrow S/S 15X6 Cragar that may fit (albeit really tight) or fit well with some slight OEM fender widening and would work

But the same adapter issues need to be figured out and worked into the plan if you go that way...

Oldys Custom Fiberglass Fenders ( http://www.oldinc.com/trikefendersbo...kefenders.html ) do a GREAT job of fitting fenders to bodies and they can likely help if you want to go down this path... but look at MDO's suggestion as well. A LOT less hassle... A LOT less delay and waiting while your dream ride is being put together.

I have chosen a journey that is coming up on a year in duration to put my ride together before I get to really ride it... not everybody thinks that is smart... but that is no matter to me as I know what I want. I just want you to know that these kinds of mods on the trikes are NOT like similar mods in the Bi-Wheeled Sport and Long Bike Community... they have lot more bolt on choices. We tri-cycular folk sometimes have to be more innovative and creative in our customization as we don't always have as many off the rack options. And those people at the MoCo will deny Tri-Cyculars our Stage IV options and void warranties on many of these mods..... But! we're different... and we're proud (sniff)....And we shall overcome!.... Viva La Trikes!

    (Just sayin....)

Here is a link to a web site that has many styles for trike rear wheels. Should give you an idea of what is out there as a bolt on option.

Here is a link to a Company that has polished / chromed stock wheel options like MDO suggested for trikes on an exchange program. They will do yours or send you a set polished/chromed and you send them yours...

I had a good experience with him. He did my lower legs, rotors, and front wheel hubcaps/spacers. Nice work with good quality. I can't speak to the wheels.

As I understand it you need to take into account the rearend your using and the gear ratio then the rim and tire size to match the output of your engine. If you get this wrong you either over rev or lug the engine depending on if you’re up or down on the ratio. It’s not just a matter of slapping on some nice wheels.
