Adjusted Drive Belt deflection needed to get a gauge to do it so I purchased one. Primed and sealed the swing arm spots where powder coat failed and also the top of shock mounts at welds where the coating blistered. There were also two areas on top of the angle iron mounts for the stiffener bars the coating failed. At Ten years old there are bound to be issues here and there. Possibly the body will go back on tomorrow, I just need to get two 12" extra heavy duty Zip ties the brand used by Electrical services those are what is used from Lehman or so they told me.

I torqued the body bolts today and the ground bolt broke it was over torqued sometime before, last bolt to finish putting the body back on. finshed painting and secured brake hoses and emergency cables to OEM placement. Wheels are cleaned and clear coated ready to go. Name: DSC01158.JPG
Views: 176
Size: 151.6 KB I plan on cutting it to length degreasing and red locktite the all thread and using it... any thoughts only 12 Lb. torque on it.

Jack it is 5/16's torques to 12 lbs. Ground on the top left body bolt and the ground web goes there also. I'm sure it will work well thanks for the chart ride a few miles for us next time out. Fred

    Default Finially completed!

This project started as Clean the wheels on the inside and went down hill from there. Aligned the rear end straighten up the entire assembly, now there is equal spacing from the fender and tires on both sides. Purchased a Drive belt deflection gauge tool to make sure it is adjusted correctly. Finding the wiring mess that needed a male side plug not stuffed in the other side. I had never looked down in where it was placed all taped up, 2.50 cent plug fixed it. Found a loose Heim joint replaced both of those. I found small rusty spots where powder coating failed repaired those as well. New brake pads may as well do them while it so easy to get at. Adjusted and set the parking brake Also changed the rubber mounts on the mufflers in the rear, again very easy to do with body off chassis.

What did I learn out of the escapade... Although Clean and polished paint sometimes you have to look a little deeper to really see what is really happening. The trike is 10 years old now I think I will be paying closer attention than before it still runs great looks respectable and it is paid for so I think I will keep it as long as the good Lord lets me swing a leg over it. Travel safe Fred Time to put the tools away for a week or so.

Looking pretty good there Fred, glad everything worked out as planned, I'm sure you had a few mistakes along the way and you fixed as you went, that shows what a person can do himself with proper tools and a trike supplement, one thing about it you got to see how dirty it gets underneath, LOL, to bad you can't put a shield there to protect it all from getting dirty.

    All for now Trampas

You're correct it certainly is a learning experience. The supplement didn't say remove the Panhard lower bolt on the rear housing When adjustment is needed but common sense tells you if your moving laterially the Panhard rod must be adjusted shorter or longer depending on which way you are going. I also learned how to repair or replaced wiring connectors and adjust the little barbs on those suckers. In general it was a great experience I have a much better understanding of the entire machine. Even the fabled poorly designed parking is effective when adjusted properly and I learned how. Certainly glad I was able to get it completed, last project still to come soon I'm going to install a frame mount for the Mighty Mite Fans. Those little fellas work absolutely marvelous.... One thing is for sure I will not wait ten years to get the body off and give it a good going over possible every other year in winter. travel safe Fred

Wow Fred, you've been busy! Looking good.

Always great to get to know your ride better. It's a nice feeling to get all those little things taken care of and back in tip-top shape.

On your light bar...have you double checked to make sure that if the front forks fully compress it will not come in contact with your fender?

Looks like you're ready to enjoy the good weather when it finally arrives up your way!

Kevin thanks again I am going to rethink the driving light as I have said before PA has a limit of four lights lit at the same time they often don't enforce it but... you know what I mean. If there is room I will move it behind the forks should enough clearance.

    Travel safe Fred

Yeah, we see a lot of dented fenders from lights and tool bags.

Knock on wood...most of the time LEO's cut a lot of slack to HD riders that are behaving somewhat rationally.

I've been all over the USA and a good part of Canada, never been given any trouble, even with very loud exhaust (and 7 white lights up front). I just show respect to them and in congested & residential areas.

BUT....I understand, the world is changing around us...almost feel like I don't recognize this country sometimes.
