    Default tilting motor works

I am interested in firsthand reviews of the tilting motor works front end conversion. I like the idea of not loosing the leaning on turns and still having the bike hold itself up at a stop. Watched the segment on Jay Leno's garage but since he and I are not on speaking terms I am looking for other sources. Would like to hear how it rides and how much is the install. I'm looking ti make my 2011 Road Glide Ultra a stand alone ride. Back, knees and belly are keeping me off the bike for now.

1). Me too. The concept intrigues me.

    2) what did you do to piss off Jay Leno?

I'd like to do a test ride. I've been watching the progress for a couple years now. I keep hoping zook has become a certified or authorized installer but haven't seen anything suggesting that. hint hint

Im not on facebook so me and Jay never connected. I wish there was a dealer/installer near virginia. Would make a nice road trip even if i had to take the jeep. Im very curious what the installed price would be. I may have to go another route or just give in and sell the bike of my dreams.

I've owned and been riding a 2013 Goldwing trike for about three years now and I demo rode a Harley with the Tilting Motorworks

conversion 2 years ago. The one I rode didn't have the tilt lock so I can't comment on that but the thing was a hoot to ride. Front suspension soaked up the bumps (I'm in Massachusetts, the roads SUCK!!!). The front end is very controlled under almost all conditions. The only characteristic I didn't like about it was if you are on a curved road or a ramp and the road surface is uneven the front end kinda chatters a little. Not enough to be objectionable, but noticeable. On the highway it is rock solid and again, very compliant but firm suspension. Handled well at all speeds and everybody looks at you while you're on it so beware of target fixation. I'm very happy with my conventional trike so not in the future for me, I favor the Goldwing anyways. I will say that the engineering and the workmanship on the conversion is incredible, super fit & finish. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to actively search out a demo ride on one.

I am interested in having them do a conversion on my GL1800 because I am a darksider and also want to keep my tow hitch. I would also like to take a demo ride. There is a dealer in Missouri which is the closest one to me in East Texas, but I haven't checked to see about test rides. Cost according to web site, with the leaning option is about $13K plus labor (how long can it take to R&R the front forks with the mod?????) but apparently you have to put down a deposit and sit back and wait for an opening!?

Anyone had this done? Jay never returns my calls either

Update on the search. I talked to Reggy at Bumpass Harley in Memphis and was told it should take three to four days start to finish with paint to match my bike. They are a stocking dealer which eliminates the ordering time from the manufacturer. The price is $17,500. The dealership has a bike you can test ride and he said before I would leave he would spend some time showing me the kit and explaining how it rides. I'm figuring 19 to 20 k for a total to have a vacation in Memphis while the bike is fitted with the trike and then who ever takes me down can drive the truck back with the parts they leave off. Will have to trailer the bike there I guess.

Maybe Jay would help... If he only returned my calls

Bob... I have no information for you on this quest. Just wanted to welcome you to TrikeTalk - from west Texas!

We have an informal, fun gathering at Kerrville, usually first week in October... ALL vehicle styles welcome - 2 wheel, 3 wheel, 4 wheel. Keep us in mind...stay tuned out here for information as it becomes available.

Additionally... you might want to contact Papa Zook who owns this forum and his own trike conversion business in Conroe, TX. He is a WEALTH of information - and a nice guy to boot!

I saw them in Phoenix. I was offered a ride but I declined. I didn't like the self righting feature. I'm an aggressive rider and don't like a brainless machine doing some thing I'm not ready for.

It only comes into play under 3 miles an hour. And on the plus side with that option at least on the harley you can keep your abs. I need a trike for medical reasons and this will allow me to ride like normal and still have assistance holding the bike.

Bumpus H-D in Memphis is my local dealer. Been buying bikes from them for over 20 years. Family owned dealership(s) - they have four across the state but the only one doing the Tilting Works conversion is the Memphis store. This is a stand up dealership and I can recommend them highly. Not ridden the demo bike / trike they have but know several folks who have. Good luck with your conversion.

William I was at the dealership today and in the shop talking to the service manager, Tyler. They were working on a Tilting Trike conversion. He said they had done over 20 in the past year or so and had several more coming in. I mentioned that there was someone in VA who was interested and talked to Reggie about it. Tyler said he had spoken to you today. I can tell you this . . . Tyler and the Bumpus service department are stand up and first rate. I cannot recommend them more highly and I have no skin in the game other than being a satisfied customer who over the years has become friends with the owner and many of the folks there. If you decide to move forward with the conversion I think you will be pleased. Keep me posted and if you come down this way perhaps we can get together for a bite or a brew or two.

Not familiar with all the intricacies of the conversion so not sure what would require maintenance nor how involved it would be. Ditto for any areas requiring repair. That of course is a valid concern and perhaps the manufacturer could enlighten you about that. Decisions, decisions. It ain't easy or cheap that's for sure.
