Looking for a hot lead;

I am trying to figure out where to pull switched power to run my auxiliary fuse box.

On Helga I found a ground and hot (switched) wire nutted under the seat.

I see there is a connection on the top left of the fuse box (oem) does anyone know it that would work?

I'm not running anything big, charging station for phone and GoPro batteries and a SiriusXM radio. Maybe 5 amps total.

And do you want your NEW connection hot all the time?

Could be a battery killer if you forget to power down everything you connect here

No ... I'm looking for a switched source ... IE, only hot when ignition is on/acc.

I thing the AC connection top left on the OEM fuse box is there right place ... can't remember where I put my shop manual ... LOL.

That is where I ran my extended fuse box from on my 06. If I remember correctly, the accessory terminals are switched. Always can check with a meter.

I did find my manual ... it's kind of silent on the acc terminals ... gonna have to check them with a meter. But I'm pretty sure that's where I hooked it up on the 08 trike and the 01 yellow wing.

This getting old is for the birds ... can't remember anything.

Don't know about the 1800 but on a 1500 the ACC terminals are 5 amp max.You could trigger a relay that supplied power to the box with it.

Two charging ports ... one for phone, one for GoPro Batteries. And a SiriusXM Radio, less than 5 amps for sure.

The aux terminals in the fuse box are rated at 5 amps. If you need more than that, there is an easy way to accomplish it by using a Centex AP-1 switch panel along with the AP-170R Relay/Wiring Kit $34.95. Connect the Centex AP-1 red wire directly to the positive battery terminal and the black wire to the negative battery terminal and the orange wire from the Relay Wiring Kit to the switched, positive terminal in the accessory fuse block. This orange wire is the relay wire. This powers up the AP-1 switch panel only when the ignition is on. This device is widely used by motorcyclists.

I only use 2 fuses, and they have been changed out to 2 amps.

Went ahead and ordered the AP-1 ... Less limiting and much safer than the one I have. I like that it's relayed. Plus, mine's been on a "few" bikes ... LOL. Probably time to upgrade.

To be clear, you will need the AP-170R Relay/Wiring Harness to go with the AP-1 fuse panel. Two separate items.

Welp ... I was able to find the fuse box and the relay wiring on eBay for a lot less ... no shipping was the big difference .... now that I'm on a fixed income ... I gotta watch the pennies ... well at least if I plan on doing some road trips ... LOL.

Where do you intend to mount the XM radio head??

I put it all on the left side box cover. Used the aux and power connection under the box itself.

Not a great place but only place I could think of.

Ignore the plastic wrap on the XM head. They maybe water resistant. They aren't waterproof as I found out.

I run a 8 foot cord from the BT CD thingie to the left front pocket. I plug that into to aux cord. I mount the BT CD thingie and the Sirius Radio head in the trunk ... when I want to listen to audio books on the phone, I unplug the Sirius radio and plug the phone in ... since I have a charging station in the trunk too, everything gets powered.

I only listen to the Message, but, if I need to change the channel the remote is in the right pocket.

I have to find this CD plug everyone is talking about.

I only listen to 2 stations myself but didn't want it in the trunk. I carry too much junk already in there for me as is.
