Now that this has been hashed out from the question side as well as the answered side....

Jack.. have you come to any conclusions?

If you want to drive 3 wheels, buy something with 3 wheels.

If you want to drive 4 wheels, buy a car.

    Hurry and decide!

    The season is fast approaching!

    Good luck with your decision.

I'm curiously watching this thread ... I've considered a voyager ... I think it might be nice to have the stability of 3 (4) on a really long trip, then the fun of two on normal trips. Also, in five years ... or so ... I'll be ready to be not holding it up ... LOL ... although with two new knees ... who knows.

Not to hijack the thread, but, I'm curious, how hard is it to take off a voyager and put it back on ... we talking minutes? Hours? Days? Inquiring minds want to know.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programing.

I never took it off, the Honda dealer had the honors when they changed the rear tire. There are two small jacks the fit the belly pan and you install them until the contact the floor to hold the bike upright, you undo two large bolts that go into the belly pan and roll the Voyager away, lower the side stand and lower the side stand one first and then the right side one and set them aside. It should take a few minutes to remove and install.

    Jack,

Thank you for your most thoughtful reply - you are a gentleman and and a scholar sir...

I can only tell you my personal experience with my Tow Pac which was purchased in 2013... I have ridden my Tow Pac equipped bike cross country and have never had any difficulties with the law, and in fact, have never even been stopped, except by interested old guys like myself...

The best answer I can give is to direct you to trike lady's post from Voyager - that seems to sum it up pretty well...

And to FuzzyWuzHe - it takes me about 15 minutes to remove my Tow Pac and a bit longer to reinstall as I usually have to tweak wheel alignment a bit when putting it back on, but if you were not concerned with that, about 15 minutes on as well... 3 bolts is all it takes...

    Thumbs up

My choice will be a three wheeler, and I'm at about 95% headed toward two

forward wheels and one rear design. If, (the biggest word in the English dictionary)

Honda made the Spyders that CanAm is making the point would be settled.

Again, thanks for all the feedback on this thread!!!

I think they forgot to connect the wiring harness when they put it back on. Or I missed they little detail. They made a point of saying to disconnect it so I expected they would reconnect it.

Above PAWS referred to the riding season quickly approaching. Where I am

the riding season is certainly NOW. And in my humble opinion, it begins on or

about Columbus day, (if it actually has a beginning and ending date here, it's

due to high temperatures, definitely NOT due to low temperatures). As to the

close of the season, Memorial Day I'll "throw into the ring". I assure you all

that at my latitude the months of June, July, August and September really,

REALLY make a person appreciate the invention of air conditioning, both for

    buildings AND IN CARS!!!

I rode with a friend with a Voyager kit on a Yamaha before he picked up a Goldwing and added a Roadsmith kit. There was a question about the number of wheels with the Voyager kit installed, he even ended up having to have it inspected by the state police. After a few go-rounds with the inspecting officer (who was a motorcyclist) and bureaucrats at the DMV it was decided that the motorcycle designation was correct because 1) The Voyager kit was an accessory, not a permanent modification, and 2) The way the kit was set up the outrigger wheels don't both touch the ground at the same time, therefore only 3 wheels were on the road at any one time. That made it a trike, which falls under the motorcycle category in this state.

Air conditioned buildings and cars make people more miserable with mold and dust mites flourishing. But they are more comfortable while they sneeze and blow their noses all day long. I prefer those hot months as I'm freezing at temps below 65º in my old age.

Victory had some great products and seemed to be ahead of their time. I am a little biased........I had five of them, starting in 2000.

Curious discussion, so when I went to the OK Tag Agency yesterday to renew my tags (keep in mind that in OK, the DMV is privatized), I asked the counter person the topic question.

She didn't know the answer, so she called in the facility manager. He said that the original intent of the vehicle at the point of manufacture, is how the vehicle is classified regardless of any aftermarket modifications.

For example, the Goldwing trikes (in OK) are classified as motorcycles, because the modification to a trike was done after it was manufactured and the Goldwing is not originally designed to be a trike. According to the gentleman, the only trikes that are actually classified as trikes (in OK), are the H-D Freewheeler, and the H-D Tri Glide, because that's how the vehicles were originally designed by the manufacturer.

An H-D motorcycle that receives an aftermarket trike kit, remains legally categorized as a motorcycle (again, in OK), and not a trike.

I'm no attorney and have no idea how accurate his information is, but it makes sense to me.

Well friend, first I'd ask the OK DMV about the four wheeled Hannigan. That's because I'm guessing that would require a call to the agency's attorney, unless you've already got one on the OK roads and a guidance document was produced for the DMV to follow. It's really about the forth wheel/tire being in contact with the ground full time. Thank you for sharing!

I know in Arizona it is still considered a motorcycle, That is what is on your title. They go by CC's here they don't care how many wheels. They are accessories. Also since we build Quad Harleys we found out by calling all 50 states the quads are road legal in 40 of the 50 states. We also built the Hannigan Quad for a couple that live in Arizona, they love it.
