    Default Love jugs & stage 1 a/c ??

Thinking about adding slipons and a Power Vision and maybe an a higher flow air filter that will fit under the stock A/C cover. Already have a catless S&S header and am running Vieds. Also have a DK external breather and will be adding Mighty Mites. Just looking for a little more low/mid grunt, a little deeper rumble but not loud & a cooler running engine. Already have DK tank lift & their air deflectors.

    So, questions are:

Will a K&N air filter in the stock A/C give me enough air for this slight stage 1? Seems like a more open A/C will will just suck in the hot air from the Mighty Mites. Thoughts?

Anyone running the 4" Reinhart slip on mufflers? From a bunch of you tube videos, I like the sound. They don't seem too load unless you get on it. I had V&H Twin Slash tru duels on the Switchback I had prior to the Tri. They were fine, but wouldn't want it any louder.

Also will the 4" cans be an issue with dragging ( I do have the DK 14" rear shock setup)?

    Thanks in advance!

    1. Any extra air is going to be an improvement, so running a K&N element in your stock set up will be better than stock. You can get a 606 setup that uses the stock cover and it will give even more increase in performance. See it HERE.

Since you already have an EBS, talk to the folks in Customer Service and they'll adjust the price for you, will end up not costing much more than just the filter element, but will be a much nicer improvement.

At a stop the heat is already radiating from the fins and heating the air around the intake, the fans will help the engine run cooler, and over all that air will be cooler. Once you are moving the majority of the air going thru the element is "fresh", not from the air being pushed across the engine by the fans.

    2. A lot of folks like the Reinhart sound, including Devin, the "D" in DK. I never have liked it. But that is how it is with exhaust notes, everyone likes a different sound. They can be adjusted to be no louder than the Twin Slash db wise, they maybe have a bit sharper of a note when getting on the throttle.

    3. Even with the factory slip ons you can drag them in a steep enough driveway with the 14" Trike Series Shocks™. So with the 4" cans you will be a bit closer, just go at a bit of an angle in really deep entrances and you'll be fine.

I have 4" diameter Cobra 909-Twins Dual Slip-On Exhaust. I do have to exercise care when going up steep inclines or turning into driveways with a large drop off. Otherwise, I have no problems due to their size. Should get some relief after I install my DK Convertible Comfort Lift Kit.

If you would, please tell me about your Cobra set up (A/C, tune, cat or no). I am still on the fence on that.

They're Cobra's 909-Twins Dual Slip-On Mufflers, sku: 6303 . No engine mods, stock A/C and no tune. I chose these because they're not excessively loud at highway speeds and I can even hear my music at reasonable volume. I'm considering DK's 606 setup in the future to use with my stock cover, but haven't checked to find out if a tune is required if used with the Cobra 909 Slip-on's. Already have several parts for lift, lighting and comfort on my kitchen counter waiting for better weather to install. Here's an image.....

Wes, I bet you are going to need a tune if you change the A/C, since you have already changed the pipes. How are the Cobras compared to the stock exhaust for sound and power?

I am going with Power Vision but have not total figured out the A/C or the exhaust yet. I already have an S&S decatted headpipe. Am running V-ieds now but they will come off.

Jeff, I describe them as having a throaty but pleasant sound through the gears and no overpowering or annoying noise at interstate/highway speeds. I really can't make an fair comparison with the stock mufflers, because I only rode 45 miles from dealer to home with the stock exhaust, then changed to the Cobra Slip-ons before the next ride.

Yea, I kinda figured I'll need a tune with that A/C and the Cobra slip-ons. That and the addition of a tuner is why I've made no inquiries on moving in that direction at this point. Pretty sure I'll also want to have some changes made to improve exhaust cooling, along with adding Love Jugs. Just have to get my current to-do list installed, before moving to the more costly and involved changes.

Nice to be able to follow a thread that's headed in a similar direction......

I am running Cobra 909s, de-catted stock head pipe and the DK 606 air cleaner with stock cover and external breather system with a Power Vision tuner on my 2015 Freewheeler. I am very happy with the sound of the Cobras and the performance of the bike. The Cobras sound good , very throaty under acceleration and run down but not excessively loud at highway speed. I also have the Love Jug Mighty Mites and run them all the time. They do a good job of cooling the engine down some. I also have a DK tank lift kit to let a little more air circulate around the heads. I am very pleased with this set-up.

Sunman, Greatly appreciate this info. I'll definitely be following a very similar path. I already have the DK Tank Lift w/Deluxe Option, Deflector Wings and Footboard Extensions installed. Thanks again......

Yes, a tuner, or at the least, some FL-ViED's are needed on Twin Cams when opening up the exhaust and the intake.

Here's a LINK with some good info on the different options, and the pros and cons of each.

Thanks Kevin....by end of month I'll be making contact for ordering the Power Vision Tuner and HiFlow 606 Air Cleaner. Will need someone to clue me as to what specific extras are needed for External Catch Can Breather System.

Thank you, appreciate the business, and I believe you will be well pleased with the results.

When you call or email, Dawn, Dwayne or Natalie will let you know the different catch can options and guide you to what you need.

I also have the Love Jug Mighty Mites and run them all the time. They do a good job of cooling the engine down some. I also have a DK tank lift kit to let a little more air circulate around the heads. I am very pleased with this set-up.
