Thanks Jack! Yeah, gotta break her in good. Plus, I pretty much got wheelies out of my system...well, except for naturally occurring ones on hard acceleration.

I would imagine you kept the power vision off the 2014 for the 2019 and just have to pay the $200 to get a license for the 2019, wished I would have kept my power vision off the 2016 but I let it go with it.

    All for now Trampas
Yes, it is the same PV from my 2011, that I transferred to the 2014, now I have it for the 2019.

Yeah, the itch has been there for years. The biggest reason was folks questioning my knowing what I was talking about on the '19's...but even that did not justify the expense of anything close to MSRP. But when the Dealership bettered my lowball proposal, it made financial sense given the miles on the '14.

What are your plans concerning upgrades with the new warranty. Will be different now compared to what you could/did do on the 14.
Big question...I have addressed it in many other posts. Bottom line is that the Consent Decree that HD did with the EPA is illegal. It is in direct violation of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which is in place to protect us consumers from unreasonable denial of warranty claims.

Someone, not me, will eventually deal with it in court, just like has happened with some auto companies.

So I will, in good conscience, do what I want with my Trike. If there is a warranty issue that is NOT a result of something I've done, then I will take it in, in stock condition, and have it repaired, under warranty.

Not really sure what all I am going to do. Loose plan is to put most everything I took off the '14 onto the '19. But I'm pretty sure that as the process unfolds we'll see some new stuff we want to do.

Thank you! Yes, lots of options. I almost went with one of the adjustable ones out there...but looking at the numbers, none of them had the length to do what is most comfortable to me. Plus I save a few hundred bucks doing what we did.

Please do a detailed thread on installation of the rake kit and any tricks on fine tuning it. I am especially interested in the steering damper. The rake kit is on my list for 2020 upgrades. Thanks in advance.

    Kurt
    Thank you!

The bars will be glossy black. Last bars we did (on the '14) were satin black.

Yes, the plan is to do an in-depth, photo and video of the rake kit install.

    Nice pick. Congrats.

I’ve installed many of the mods you suggested over the years and made the journey more enjoyable

Do you know what parts are interchangeable with 2019?

One question. M guessing you’ve experimented with several seats. Have you found a clear favorite?

    Mark. 2014 Tri
    Thank you Mark.

We appreciate your business, and it's always good to hear of our parts making the riding experience more enjoyable.

Almost every part that I had on the '14 will fit on the '19.

    There are a few exceptions....

All parts of the Air Cleaner will fit, except the backplate...that is different.

The Stealth EBS I had on the '14 won't fit the '19.

    Headers won't fit.

    Tailight lens won't fit.

    I think that's it...everything else fits.

    On seats-

In years past I did lots of swapping, then I did foam shaping modifications, and used comfort foam. Tried gel, did not like how cold and hot they got.

But for the last 8 or so years I've found that the use of an Air Hawk cushion is the most comfortable thing for me. We also use sheepskin, keeps warmer in winter and cooler in summer.

Thank you! My '14 was a great Tri Glide!

Thank you. Gonna take our time, and do it nicely and well documented. Been trying to learn how to make good videos, so there are going to be a more of those during this build-out. The video we just did was the last one with our old equipment. Next video should be much nicer.

Hey...it was a PITA taking all the stuff off the '14, gonna take much longer to decide what and when to put things on the '19, and to document before and after on a bunch of it.

Tentatively planning on doing the ceramic this weekend.

Yes, the '14 served us well. Hope the '19 does just as well.

Just under 60,000 miles. I have been keeping them down the last 6 months or so, in case I "needed" to trade this coming August.

I suspect it will not be much different than other M8's tested. But I will check it out.

Here's a video with a Report link in it, of the previous tests we've done on the breathers.

Yeah, pretty sure we did not "need" it. But I am excited about doing some in-depth analysis, and getting it ready for some great memory making riding!

We took her low profile backrest off the '14, put the factory one back on the '14. We'll be taking the factory one off the '19 and putting her low-profile one on it.

Tomorrow I begin (and possibly finish) ceramic coating the tins and the wheels. I will also be using Fast Metal Polish (which leaves a slick coating) on all the chrome. I will be taking photos and video of this process and be posting it here.

Once that is done, and had a few days to cure, I will begin riding, observing and testing different aspects of the ride. As I get a firm grip on how it is stock, I will then begin with some mods.

Got the handlebars back from powder Friday.

    Unwrapped them up yesterday...

    ...They turned out well!

Will be getting them installed sometime in the next week or so.

btw, a couple of folks have asked. These are stock Tri Glide bars that have had a 9" section added to each side, making them taller. The grips were also rotated 15 degrees further forward for better wrist comfort for me.

Yesterday I got a big chunk of the ceramic coating done.

Pic of the TG on the lift prior to starting-

First I cleaned all the dust and dirt off the paint.

Then I used the prep polish to get everything off the surface, oil, silicones, etc. Leaving only the clear coat, giving a good clean surface for the coating to adhere to.

Then I began applying the ceramic coating-

I got everything done except for the two side covers, the front fender and the three wheels.

This is how it sits now-

Today I am planning on finishing it up.

Very nice Kevin. You are doing it right, coating the paint before the scratches.

Just curious, what's the cost of powder coating the bars? Also, what's your initial impression of the 114?

Yesterday I finished up the coating on the Tri Glide.

First I did the rear wheels.

I have to say I was a bit disappointed. The wheels have very fine grooves in them. After using the prep polish to prepare the metal for the coating, I could not get all the prep polish out. I spent a significant amount of time trying, even used some alcohol to help get them clean. In the end, it might have been better to use a polishing wheel, but I was not prepared to spend that kind of time. After getting them as clean as I was willing to, I went ahead and coated them.

If the coating works on the wheels as good as the paint, I am going to be happy. It is so irritating to have brake dust, road grime, etc. stain the wheels. If the coating will keep that from happening it will be worth it.

I did the rear wheels, then moved the trike down to the floor, used the scissor jack to lift the front tire off the ground and coated the front wheel.

After that I removed the OEM fender skirt. I will be cleaning up the custom fender skirt that I pulled off the '14 and be re-installing it in place of the OEM. (Thank you Richard)

Here's a photo of the OEM in my right hand and the custom one in my left-

Next I cleaned, prepped and coated the front fender and the side panels.

Gonna give it a few days to cure, then put it back together.

When I put it back together it will be with the first few mods-

    Safety Tether for Tour-Pak Lid

    Tour Pak Relocation Kit

    Tour Pak Filler Run-Brake-Turn LED

    Power outlet inside Tour Pak

Passenger Drink Holder mounted on Tour Pak

Mary's Custom Made Back Rest mounted on Tour Pak

    Custom Front Fender Skirt

After I get it all back together I will be riding it back to the dealership to have them install the handlebars.

Then, Finally, I will begin riding it, beginning my testing/evaluation and making mods as I go.

This is the longest I've ever gone with a "new to me ride" without piling some miles on it, getting to know it. But I really wanted to get the ceramic coating done while the paint was still new and relatively clean.
