New mufflers look good Fuzzy! Glad you like how they sound! You need to do a video so we all can hear them!

Here is a link to Fuelmoto on you tube made using a 2014 FLHTK with their head pipe and the E-Series exhaust. These are very good mufflers. I run one on my 07 RG with a 2 into 1 pipe. I would have put these on my 2016 trike but couldn't afford the $500.00 bucks at the time so I used their 3 1/2 inch jackpots for about half that.

You might have seen several post where Kevin at DK stated these e-Series were either the best or second best of all the models (if I am not mistaken) they have tested. I really like the sound. It is not that sharp ear hurting sound, just deep and mellow. They are nice on the ears on long interstate runs, but sound nice when you hit the gas to pass!

It looks like these E series have taken the best from White Brothers and Super Trap and made these mufflers better

I agree jack. I put a Supertrap 2 into 1 pipe and disc muffler on my 07 road glide in 2011 and as far as I ever knew they were the originator of this disc system. I ordered it straight from supertrap.com. I suppose Fuelmoto entered into an agreement with them over the years to sell them?

That's pretty much what mine sound like ... maybe a little less sound ... I used the stock head pipe but de catted ... so maybe a little less restriction on theirs.

So the geezers weren't up for monopoly today, so I just had breakfast with them and we yakked. Then I found out why ... a group of gals from a local Church came to sing Hymns for them ... Can you image ... they would rather have the gals sing to them and flirt with them then kick my b$tt at monopoly ... I just don't know what's up with the older generation ...

Since the gals were steeling their attention ... I made a strategic retreat and headed home. Looked like the guys were having a ball .. I'm glad for them. The women had a whole Easter thing planned ... I'm sure they won't miss me.

So, since my brake issue yesterday was weighing heavy on my mind, I decided to check the brake lever out and put the Kuryakyn one on.

As soon as I got the right floorboard off, 2 screws and the rear master cylinder loose and supported, another two screws, I removed the nut holding the brake lever on. It was stuck pretty good. had to wiggle it and pull for like 5-6 minutes to get it off.

    I found the brake issue:

you can see the shaft is as dry as a "pop corn f$rt" and corroded. Pretty sure there should be some grease there too.

    Name: Brake Lever 2.jpg

Size: 661.4 KB

I have a unique (maybe not) way of cleaning shafts. I use a grinder wheel that I accidentally left out in the rain and it rusted pretty good. I like this because I can keep it flat to the shaft and it only really takes off the corrosion, unless you do it forever. Like I said, slow and controlled.

    Name: Brake Lever 3.jpg
Views: 244
Size: 716.0 KB

After that, I cleaned it well with a rag and alcohol.

    Name: Brake Lever 4.jpg
Views: 252
Size: 712.5 KB

Lubed it up with a marine grade silicon grease and put it back together.

    Name: Brake Lever 5.jpg
Views: 251
Size: 769.7 KB

As you can see, the big advantage of the Kuryakyn is the grease zirc, I give it a shot of the same grease each time I do an oil change. Since I'm famous for touching pretty much everything while working, I wiped every thing except the painted stuff down with alcohol and the painted stuff with the Honda cleaner.

Next I did the ISO grips swap. This is really easy so I just wanted too show a tip about protecting things while working on hand controls, especially if your gluing grips on. I use a large piece of cardboard laid against the tank. If I drop something like the Power Vision mount or tool, it won't chip the paint .. betcha can't guess why I do this now ...

    Name: ISO Grips.jpg
Views: 246
Size: 966.3 KB

As you can see the grips are on.

Next was to mount the other flag I found yesterday. I already had the USA flag found and mounted, but, this one was not in the same box.

Last was to put the phone holder in the tour pak (something else I found). This thing just has the hook half of velcro on the back and sticks to the tour pak liner. Works well to keep the phone from bouncing around and I can move it anywhere I like.

After that, took her on a short ride to ensure every switch still worked (since I had to take the switch halves apart) and to test the brake lever. I really like the more laid down position. More natural to slide your foot up to brake. Good news ... the brake no longer "sticks".

Short of doing a three hole oil change and all checks required up to 15k (I'm at 14,240, but, this way I'll know every thing is current and I'll have a good base line), Fat Bottom Girl is done (for now) and ready to make the Mesquite run. I'll do the maintenance next week.

Forgot to mention, I did find the instructions under all the peanuts for the E-series Slippons. I have 15 disks on my mufflers ... thinking I might remove 3 and see if I like the sound a tad quieter. With 15, it's pretty much wide open now, they don't recommend any more than 14-18. We'll see ... according to the instructions, less disks will make less noise and more low end torque and horse power. I think 12 sounds like a nice even number ... LOL.

I'm pretty sure that's what I was told as well on my 2013. Running 12 discs quiets it down just a tad and adds a bit more torque. I was going to try 10, but never got around to it before trading it in on a 2018. Sound like you're enjoying them! I'm jealous because I'd love to put them on the new 2018, but warranty issues prevent that, at least for now. Don't understand why changing out the exhaust would void their warranty, but since I've paid for it, might as well keep it "legal". I know my dealership wouldn't flag it, but I travel all around the country and just don't want to take that chance....yet.

It's just a way of keeping, your money in their pockets, notice putting Street Canons doesn't void it or their fat shots ... LOL. (MHO ... but it could also be part of the deal with the EPA under King O). I was told that 99.9% of the time the dealer could care less, but, if your 1000 miles from home and the engine seizes, the field rep will care and deny it and void the rest of your warrantee.

I think I might drop 3 of the disks and try that tomorrow ... but ... It's pretty sweet now.

    Default Happy Easter

Well ... except for the rain ... but .... it's better than the snow we usually get on Easter.

Okay, so This is the day of the year that really puts a smile on my face ... I'm usually pretty happy, but, when I think about all the significance of Easter .. I am just soooooo thankful. Went to church and Praised God for all he does.

Okay ... back to the Fat Bottom Girl. I know I said she was done except for routine maintenance, but, I also said for now ... LOL. I had some minor adjustments I wanted to do, little things like the angle of the hand controls, adjustment of the highway pegs and I needed to rotate the right muffler a tad so they were symmetrical. Yea, I know, I'm not right in the head ... or anal ... or what ever they call it now. I prefer to call it A B Normal ...

So, made the adjustments and tweaked the right muffler. While I was on the floor, I decided to remove three disks from the 15 I had in the e-series. So I pulled the right side apart (easy, 6 allen screws on the end cap). I didn't have 15 disks, only 13. I had counted the alignment disk against the muffler and the blank at the end before the end cap. So maybe taking 3 out would be to much. What now????

I did something I hardly ever do, read the instructions ... ... shssssss ... don't tell anyone.

The instructions recommend adjusting by adding or subtracting two at a time and if your removing, to just move the blank in. So to remove 2, I would have the end cap, two disks, the blank, then 11 disks and the alignment disk. They recommend this so you won't loose the disks ... me thinks they have seen my garage ... and to give the end a slightly different look, like maybe there is actually a hole there. My mimd went right to painting that blank flat black with high temp engine paint ... decided to check with fuel moto tomorrow to see if they sell just the blank and maybe in black. If they don't, and I paint mine, I'm kind of stuck with the new look. I'm sure they do.

So, here's how it looks with two disks between the end cap and the blank.

    Name: E-series 12 disc offset.jpg
Views: 212
Size: 689.7 KB

Here's what it looks like from a distance ... yea ... I think I need to twist the right one a little more ...

    Name: E-serie 12 Disc Done.jpg
Views: 222
Size: 844.4 KB

So that's it for today ... I have a pork b$tt in the smoker since last night at 7 pm, I'm guessing it will hit 205* around 4 pm this afternoon, although, it's actually a half b$tt, so it may not slow down in temp increase like a whole one ... I'm also making 3 cheese augrautine potatoes and maybe some wok fried green beans.

    Hungry Yet????

Don't understand why changing out the exhaust would void their warranty, but since I've paid for it, might as well keep it "legal". I know my dealership wouldn't flag it, but I travel all around the country and just don't want to take that chance....yet.
Because of the consent decree HD entered into with the EPA any non HD changes to exhaust and or air cleaner including any non HD approved tuner MUST and will void your warranty from 2017 and up

This really is not much new in respect to years gone by when HD tuned bikes outside of EPA specs

Sounds like bait and switch since HD is the ONLY tuner currently approved by the EPA

You can read it all here

    https://www.epa.gov/sites/production/files/2017-12/documents/harleydavidson-cd.pdf

The biggest part of the trap I see is even if you put approved by HD air cleaner and or mufflers on they can still get ya for NOT retunning said bike with THEIR tuner, more bait and switch IMO

Fuzzy - somewhere in the AMG thread you had mentioned the 2 gal roto pak installed in the trunk. How was this done? Standing upright against the back wall? Laying down on the floor of the trunk? Was just wondering how you did the install...Thanks, Billijak

It's not installed ... just laying on the trunk floor. It fits between the hinges which leaves room for the two tool bags, one on each side. I then fill the top with 4 Cabella bags, one for foul weather stuff, one for CPAP, Coffee pot, One for my stuff and one for Harley's food and stuff. Although ... since he's partial to running necked .. I do put some of my stuff in his bag ...

The nice thing about the RotoX can is that it's leak proof and fume proof. I used to have one of those wedge cans that fit in the bottom of a saddle bag ... whenever I'd open that bag, it stunk of gas ... can't be good for safety. Never had that issue with the RotoX ... another bennie is the weight is kept low ... which isn't as big deal a on the trike ....

Their website says to 'vent daily if temperature or elevation changes significantly.' Is that something you do . . . or plan to do. I too had one of the Redda gas cans that was molded to fit in the saddlebag. Never vented it and never had any real problem but over the years the cap and spout did seem to deteriorate. Last time I used it before getting my TG it was very difficult to unscrew and hard to extract the spout. Don't know if I'll carry fuel in plastic any more.

I only carry it on trips over a day ... we'll ... unless going in the mountains ... anyway ... when not on the Tri, I put the fuel in the truck and leave the cap a tad loose.

Thank you - wasn't sure if you laid it flat or not...so, obviously no leakage from the cap and spout when laying down. I do like the idea of extra gas. I had a 1988 Goldwing (1500 ...first year with reverse) with a Motovation II sidecar. The car body had a 10 gal tank plumbed into the tank on the bike.... I miss the convenience. You'd really get some looks at the gas station when you went in to pay for 14 or 15 gallons of gas.... on a motorcycle! Had the same car on a 1984 GW for 4 years, then when the 1500's came out with bigger engine and reverse, put it on there. Sold it last summer, and now on a new to us 16 Tri... Not sure what mileage we'll be getting...haven't even run through the first tank of gas on the trike, so the extra gallon or two will be a comfort....thanks for the info!

My first ride on the my 15 Tri was from Grand Junction, Co. to Green River, Ut., about 115 miles ... almost didn't make it ... it's 75 mph in Colorado, 80 mph in Utah, at those speeds the Tri sucks gas like a cadillac .. Almost didn't make it on 6 gals ... that day I measured the trunk and bought a RotoX that fit ... the 2 gal. Since then, with mods, I get around 33-35 ish mpg on I70 (very wind dependent), so it's not as big an issue. Got used to carrying it on trikes, so I do. As stated, only used it once and that was for a buddy that ran out on a 2.2 gal peanut tanked sporty. One thing I recommend if you go this route ... keep the RotoX full while in the trunk. Less fumes can't be a bad thing.

    Default Tuning Run

Beautiful day ... gonna be 70-75 and sunny.

Got some honey do's for mom this afternoon, so I did a tuning run to adjust for the moving of the E-Series disks.

Wow, this thing is now not as quiet as a Gold Wing, but, it's quieter than Helga was before I put OEM mufflers on her (2003 GW with OEM mufflers that had been drilled out some). On top of that, she makes effortless power. Moving two disks to behind the blank has moved the max torque and max horsepower band down to where I can actually use it. Can't prove this with a chart or anything, but, you can sure feel it in the seat of your pants.

There was a big accident on I70 this morning between Grand Junction and Fruita. Single car rollover, I'm guessing the driver fell asleep and is now in a bad way, the suv was shorter than the TRI. Anyway, we where down to passing it in the left break down lane. After getting past it there was about 10 18 wheelers trying to get back to speed, so I got on it and got ahead of them ... Fat Bottom Girl got up and moved. All without barking a whole bunch. Harley is gonna like the new "voice" of the FBG. I'm loving the new power.

Tuning run was about 120 miles and 80 of those where on I70. When I got close to home, I filled and got 32.8 mpg. I'm pretty happy, I usually get about 3-5 mpg less while tuning than I do when I am just on a loaded tune. Anything over 30 mpg on I70 and I'm happy.

Later this week I'll do the 3 hole fluid change and she'll be ready for the trip. Might actually spend some time "Organizing" and "Cleaning" the garage. It's amazing how cluttered a garage can get when you are "fixing" three bikes and a trike ... LOL.

Fuzzy, I saw some pictures you posted showing you garage, it looked similar to mine.

As far as organizing, have you considered a hand grenade.
