Default Something I've never seen before

While at O'Reillys to get a spot mirror to spy on Harley ....

I found these, they are basically just glass with a tad of double sticky tape to hold them on ... no plastic backing plate.

    The Package:

They work as well or better than the ones with the mounts ... but, IMHO, they look so much better on the mirrors. They have a slight tint to then that hopefully will make it easier to see with sun on them. No more blind spots ... In the pics I tried to get the same angle I see while riding ... not sure how well that worked out ... but these things are kewl. Cost, $5.

Very nice indeed. Thanks for the tip. BTW I notice on the photo of your right mirror the wording "objects in miiror, etc." is upside down.

Yep ... but by doing that ... they are higher and allow me to see past my shoulders. I've covered this before in this thread.

I have those "spot" mirrors on mine also. They help a lot. For me, if I see a vehicle in the "spots", I do NOT change lanes. That vehicle is too close for that.

Are yours the glass only ones? I've never seen them before ... hated the look of the ones with the black plastic backing ... JMHO.

    Default Mirrors

Okay ... so I wanted to get some way to "see" what the little man Harley was up to in the Pet Palace. I have tried lots of stuff to get me there.

I found these on Flea Bay ... they came yesterday.

They came with no instructions. Not a biggie as the are not rocket science to install ... but ... for a non mechanical type guy ... a picture of how it all works would of been nice.

    Here's the right:

    Here's the left:

I tried them out by just sitting on the bike, and I can see behind me ... not sure they will be okay but, I'm gonna try them out. My only concern with these mounts is maybe vibration going down the road will make it hard to see at like 75 mph.

The good news ... I can see half of the back seat in the spots on both sides. And as a bonus ... the "Objects in the rear mirrors are closer than they appear" is right side up ... never bothered me ... but ... obviously some people couldn't wrap their heads around it. LOL.

I agree . . . so much so that I went looking for them but could not find them at any of the auto parts stores - Auto Zone, Advance Auto, O'Reilly. They have the model C0400 which is adjustable but it is not frameless like the C040 is. But I did find them at Wally World - not in stock but available to order for only $1.88 for the pack of two and with free delivery to my local store. Ordered them a couple days ago and just picked them up. Great find Fuzzy. Can't wait to see what other good ideas you come up with . . . especially if they are so inexpensive, lol.

Fuzzy - I have been using those adapters almost from the start of Big Boy Harley Bikes....They are terrific...Moves the mirrors up AND out. You are gonna love them...jc

I've got like 230 miles on them and so far, I think like them. The mirrors are not as high as i'm used to, but I'm gonna see if I can get used to it.

Say Alan. Do you have the short or long stem mirrors? I alway have to buy the long stem. Moves them out and up a little. I put some spots on my left mirror yesterday. Not sure if I like them. I'll be waiting for your test result's. Jerry

I have had the long stems since I can remember ... LOL ... keep taking them off and reusing them when I trade ...

I am not sure I can get used to the mirrors being so low ... with my old method ... right switched with left and upside down, puts the mirrors really high ... I can see behind me with a quick glance ... seems with these I take my eyes off the road longer ... but it may be that I'm looking for them and they are not where I'm used to ... LOL

Ya. I also change them from bike to bike.

Now, when you switch them from side to side, and they get higher. Does that include the extender's? Or just the bare mirrors? Thanks Jerry

If I go back to the way they were ... I would go back to the Kuryakyn extensions. Having said that ... I was playing with the hand control alignment/adjustment this morning ... I like riding with my hands on the levers brake and clutch ... stuff happens too fast for the most part for me to "rearrange" my hands to stop or shift. I had not adjusted the levers to almost horizontal on the FBG yet, guess I'm getting old. Being in the crazy traffic in Breckenridge, made me realize I had't done this yet. Making them as close to horizontal as I can, I can rest my hands on the levers and not become fatigued.

Anyway ... after I made that adjustment, it brought the mirror mounts to almost horizontal also. The mirrors are now somewhere between how they were with the mirrors flipped and the Kury extenders and the low position with the levers not as high up. I went on a road test, and I think these mounts with just the long stem mirrors are gonna work fine ...

    Default yippie

I have had an annoying "rattle in the front fairing since I bought the FBG. Been driving me nuts. I've had the outer faring off several times looking for it ... nada.

This morning I was making adjustments to the hand controls and levers and noticed the banjo bolt for the front brake was tipped out and the hose was "touching" the faring. Hmmm ... could that be it???? I loosened the banjo bolt just a tad, rotated it down a tad and tighten it up. Since I didn't operate any brakes while it was loose and I loosened it just enough to get it to move, I got it moved without having to bleed the brakes ... on the test ride ... No Rattle
