Default Cobra # 6256 Pro chamber headpipes

Hello , I purchased a new set of these head pipes and installed them my self. I like doing things like this. I've done other installs on two wheel Harleys, no problems I could not resolve easily after thinking what was wrong. These pipes fit like a glove, except where the pipe enters the exhaust ports. The pipe ends are cylinder in design. They do not enter the exhaust port but rather sit on top. Stock header ends are tapered and fit down into the port and seal very nicely with a new taper gasket. The new pipes do not seal very well, but don't leak. I would like any opinion as to the sealing of these pipes. I have the manual and I am a great believer in torqueing to specifications. My Trike is 2019 Ultra. Thanks for any input.

Never seen a pipe that doesn't "sit in" the port ... maybe contact Cobra support. Seems odd to me.

    Default Install Video

I agree with Fuzzy about calling Cobra tech. I found this video online and thought you might want to watch it. I believe it is the same part number you are using. It is on a Street Glide 2017, and is not a wet head. I would think the pipe would be the same though. They also made a part 3 video that shows a dyno run on the same bike with the Pro Pipe.

I have been in contact with tech support:there answer, there pipes are made that way. If they do leak hopefully they will exchange them with the correct ends.

Hi There - Thinking of the same pipes for my 2018 Tri Glide - did you find anything additional re/the sealing of the pipes?

Don't know how much these head pipes are, but you may want to check out the Fullsac Sportpipe. I put one on my 17 and am very happy with it.

No I have a TTS and had it dyno tuned. But I don't see why the Power Vision wont work with the pipe.

I asked re/Power Vision and they said they [Fullsac] don't work with Power Vision - I am taking that as they don't provide a tune/map. I am sure I can get one from DynoJet?? I really like the headpipe as it has the same end as HD [tapered end to meet the conical gasket/exhaust port]. I found TAB Performance also had the tapered end. I felt with the proper mating surfaces you get with the taper/conical arrangement it would really help preventing leaks. How was the install? Looking at mine, getting a torque wrench on the front forward exhaust nut looks near impossible. When you have to access the hydraulic clutch bleeder, can you get the cover off without loosening the whole exhaust with the head pipe?

I have never torqued the exhaust bolts, I tighten them with a 1/4 rachet then before installing the heat shields I start the bike and check for leaks and after having installed a couple dozen sets of exhaust my method has yet to fail me. If I have a leak upon start up it I just give it another small twist. As far as the bleeder it will more than likely have to be at least loosened up to get to the bleeder. Speaking of the bleeder I intend to convert mine back to a clutch cable using the parts from the 2021 touring bikes. As far as the install they go on just like stock because they are just modified stock head pipes.

I will be guessing on the tough one, but the other three are fine with my 1/4" rachet with swivel. I think I will try to modify/cut the cover down so it can be removed without loosening the exhaust. Working on a 2 piece cover - top piece goes on as normal then the bottom piece will attach to the top from under the bike. Will the conversion back to cable be straight forward or involved?

More than likely I will have to remove the exhaust but for me it will be worth it since I really don't like the hyd clutch.

I know that I'm digging up an older thread, but I'm seriously considering putting these on my 22 CVO trike. Anybody put these on in the last couple of years. If so, what do you think? Thanks.
2022 CVO Tri Glide; 1973 Electra Glide (sold); 2016 CVO Street Glide); too many others in between to list.

Just curious, I'm like you don't care for the hydraulic clutch either, have you priced everything you need to do this?????

    All for now Trampas

P.S. When I did my brake and clutch bleed, I loosen up the exhaust then removed the cover, a pain in the ass to do, while the cover was off, I cut it down, installed it then cut some more off now it goes on and off without loosenign up the exhaust
