1. Going to look at one this week, only 2200 miles on it per the dealer. Are there any issues with this year model I need to be aware of, such as recalls, etc?

2. Plan to go with a Motor Trike kit if I buy it, what are the pros/cons of this combination?

i am almost at 10,000 miles on mine with 0 issues. I have the Champion solid axle

I'll check out Champion, I sure like the looks of yours. What brand upper trunk and seat/backrests do you have?

It is a corbin trunk (same company that makes the corbin seats)

The VTX 1800s are really bullet-proof Bikes....I put 28,000+ miles on one in 22 months of ownership once...the Bike has over 105,000, and on it's 6th Owner last time I saw it last Fall. I also love the Motor Trike IRS on my Gold Wing too....VTX1800/Motor Trike IRS, should be a Great Combo.....:wtg:

'06 1800C here and also bullet proof. I was going to trike it this winter with a Motortrike kit like the one on my wifes 1300. I wanted a kit with the IRS but they don't make it for the 1800. They said there is nothing in the pipeline either. If I had to guess why, it would probably because 1800s are no longer being produced.

i have the Champion solid axle and it handles great and rides great------for what i could tell when riding an irs ,the diffence in handling went to the solid axle and the ride to the irs.
That said, for what little difference that was detectable i would have a a hard time justifying the extra cost for the irs

We have an 2002 VTX 1800 C, (owned since 2003). The bike's been great aside from a few minor clitches. Only had the Motor Trike kit on, (triked), less than a year and the jury is still out on that one... more of a beef with the installer than the kit itself. We have low mileage on it because of the crappy way it was set up originally.... I have to redo it and I've been too injured to get at it right now, hopefully before spring though. The VTX is an excellent platform, IMO... the kit they, (MotorTrike), mate with it now is the same as the one on the VTX 1300. There is no IRS available for this motorcycle from this company, I would have likely got it had there been... but I really like the look of the MotorTrike kit. Just really check out your installer and expect neglect if ever dealing with the parent company. Chumbly-

I picked up the bike yesterday and delivered to the installer, going with the Roadsmith, which was a last minute decision based on cost. Should be ready in about 30 days.
Question: What did you guys do with the left over parts, i.e., wheel, fender, etc?

Still have most. Gave some away and sold some. Rear fender gets cut if its a Retro. I did my own conversion.

You might want to check out VTXCAFE also. I sold all my parts including the final ( $200.00 ) on VTXOA and the Cafe......Good Luck!

You might want to check out RoadSmith trike conversion, they have irs for the 1800, mine is being converted now
