    Default Tour Pak Relocation

I have looked for a relocation Kit that will allow me to move the tour pak back about 3" or what ever I can get to allow me to put my pet palace on the seat and still use my back rest.

I have found several that will allow that ... but moving it back and forth is a choir.

Kuryakyn makes one for the 2019 tribute that can be adjusted quickly ... but supposedly it won't work on a 14 Tri ... figures.

Anyone know of a easily adjustable tour pak relocation that works with the 14 tri and where to buy it?

My brain won't let this go. I am working on a plan that will use two drawer slides and quick release cotter pins .... my problem is that in inclement weather or even washing the bike, the slides will get very wet and dirty. With drawer glides, you could remove the "drawer" easily for cleaning and re greasing, simply un plug the 4 plugs under the passenger pad an pull it off, clean and put it back on. More on this idea later ... if and when I figure it out ... wonder if there is such a thing as a "sealed" stainless Steel drawer slide?

Your thoughts and help are appreciated.

    Default Update

May have solved my own issue ... I was looking at the DK tour pak relocator ... is it just four screws to adjust it from 1" to 3" ... if it is .. that will work.

1" for normal ... 3" for the pooch palace ... still probably need the pad to cover wiring.

Not sure I totally understand your dilemma. Seems you want an adjustable so you can move the tour pak back ward and then forward. Not sure why that is a concern. Why not just move it back and leave it there? Kury makes a relocator as well as our friend Kevin at DK. But they are fixed once you decide on which of several positions you desire. I have the Kury as I moved it from my 2012 long before I met Keven otherwise I'd have his from DK.

ADDED: I see you posted a reply as I was typing mine. Kevin's will do the same. Check with him please as I know you want to support DK. And yes, you will want the extended pad to cover the wiring. Kury has one of those.

I really like the look of the tour pak in it's original spot ... but ... I guess I'd get used to it being back. It's only 3" and when I don't take the pooch ... more room for my dry bag on a long trip ... Hmmm

I wonder if this could be used in conjunction with DK's frame ... might have to modify the adjuster toggles ...

Never mind ... LOL ... that is like $260 ... probably just go with the DK one ... trust their quality.

It won't take long after you relocate it, to not even notice the change.

Oh, unless you're handy at sewing, or some other means, you probably want to get a Tour Pak Filler Pad for the gap. I only have a 2" relocation, but the gap is still more noticeable around the corners. Workarounds didn't satisfy, so gave in and my Kuryakyn Filler Pad Arrived yesterday.

Thanks for the input ... I may just take the backrest off when the pooch goes with me .... I can lean on the pet palace ... seems strong enough for just leaning on. I need to give this some thought ... not taking the pooch until it get warmer ... like late May, early June ... so I have time.

As a side note, the HD passenger arm rests hold the pet palace in very nicely ... like I might need just one strap to be sure.

You mean remove the entire passenger backrest? Can't say I've ever seen a King Tour Pak with no back rest. I look forward to seeing pics if you do.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about a driver backrest, and just using the pooch palace in it's stead.

Could be.....I'm talking the gap between rear of the seat and the passenger backrest after tour pak relocation....he's concerned with fitting the pooch palace. We're kind of same church, but different pews.

Hey Scott, with the schedule I keep, it's hard to determine if am I up too early, or just stayed up too late.

Yep ... talking about the drivers backrest. When I remove it, there is sufficient room for the pet palace and I think the pet palace will provide a little back support.

Curious why you aren't just putting the Palace on top of the Tour Pack?

I just installed the DK tour pak relocation kit on my TG and I love it. Very easy to install. You will need to buy the filler kit that Kuryakyn makes. The only thing that was a problem with the filler was the factory screws was too short and I went and got longer ones.

My Kuryakyn Filler Pad was delivered Tuesday. Thanks for heads up on longer screws. You recall what length you needed? Probably can get them a my local ACE Hardware. Bet passengers like the thickness of the replacement over the stock one.

This thing (Pet Palace) is pretty big, and that's good ... LOL ... to get it to sit level, it needs to be on top of the "Air Wing" hump.

    Name: 13.jpg
Views: 221
Size: 197.5 KB

My luggage rack is not the "Premium" rack, it's the "Air Wing" luggage rack ... the hump in the middle is where you can install an LED "Hi Brake Light". Even strapping the pet palace all over with like 5 straps, it didn't feel secure to me. Add to that, i'd probably be overloading the max weight, as well as, the huge cube up there in the wind adding stress ... just seems like a recipe for disaster. Then of course, if you put it up there, getting into the tour pak is dang near impossible without putting undue stress on the hinges and the tour pak plastic. I tend to get into the tour pak every fuel stop in the summer, sun screen, adding fillips to my phone, changing GoPro batteries, etc. So mounting it there isn't really an option.

Mounting the pet palace on the seat has several pluses. Security is the biggie, his being able too see me right in front of him is nice for his sense of well being, and I have this thing called a cycle shade.

It's designed to keep the seat cool when parked in the hot sun. It fits almost any large touring bike. I'm thinking I could maybe fold it and use it to keep sun off the little guy. Just started thinking about that. Maybe I'll just get a small solar reflector from REI and affix it to the top of the pet palace and open the sides for air.

I will probably go with the DK relocation kit and the Kury filler pad ... I might look into adding support to the pet palace, and a "pad" to rest my back on. No matter what route I take, I will bring his pouch and once we get where we are going, the pet palace will stay in the room and for day trips he'll ride in his pouch. He loves being up front and looking and barking at everything.

A third option was suggested by Carla, put the trike on my trailer and do the long haul thing in the truck with Harley ... then do the Trike for day trips ... so many options ... so much time .. LOL

I bought the Kury filler pad several years ago and had the same problem with too short screws. I even call Kury and spoke to them about it. Kury is usually spot on with their products and it is disconcerting to see they still have not corrected this very evident problem.
