Wondering if there is anywhere I can trace the vin# on my champion kit to find date or mfg. or other info? Also, is the huge hex on top of the solid axle diff. for inspection or what? Thanks. Ken

There should be a tag on the swing-arm with the number on it and once you have the number you can contact Champion and they should be able to give you information.

I have the vin.Thank you, trike lady.
The Campion kit was added to the 2004 GL1800 we have in 2006 according to the sticker on the left swingarm.
It has what Champion calls the VIN, it is the number used if some bureaucrat needs the serial number of the trike kit. The picture shows the swingarm right side up - the sticker was put on upside down by whoever installed it.
As for the differential question it depends on what year your kit was as Champion sourced the axle assembly from different sources over the years. On ours in 2006 they used a Toyota solid axle. They changed to a Suzuki the next year or the year after, and apparently the Suzuki diff is installed upside down. That may by the big bolt on the top of yours, it would be the drain when installed normally.
Best bet, check with Champion.
