    Default Extended rear shifter

    I know some of you have a extended rear shifter, having trouble locating one, found 2 on Dennis Kirk website but says they won't fit, go figure, not sure why, even called them and talked to somebody and they said they won't work, I'm pretty sure harley hasn't changed anything on the shifter arms or where they slip on the splines, have a 2018 so if anyone has a 18 with extended rear shifter arm would appreciate where you got it.

    I know when I typed in 21-0256 or 44217 it says they don't fit on the dennis kirk website, then I found one on ebay and it says it will work but the catch is it the same numbers as above, go figure sure don't want to buy and then find out it does not work.

    Getting to the point I'm going to get rid of the rear shifter but I like the 2 shift arms for looks I guess, never use the rear shifter anyway so was looking for a extended one to be out of the way and don't want to spend the bigger bucks on the ones that harley has that is 1 inch longer in the rear, they have a billet one with the slots I really like but it is one inch longer in front and one inch longer in the rear, decisions, decisions, decisions

    Trampas, I installed the Kuryakyn 44217 rear extender on my 16 Tri Glide about 2 years ago and it works fine. I wanted more "rear" room for my left foot with the boots I wear while riding. I don't use the rear shifter for anything but going to neutral from first gear. However, I am like you, I don't know if it will fit an 18 or not.

    Trampas, I found a post on another forum made by Bill G. It says he installed a V Twin manufacturing ext rear chrome heal shifter arm on his 2017 Trike. I would post a link but I am not sure that is allowed. I would suppose the 17 and 18 would be the same.

    Maybe he will see this thread. He posted 2 pics in the thread I am referencing.

    I put extended (front and rear) shift levers on my 2018 TriGlide, but I'll be damned if I can remember who I bought them from. Maybe Kevin from DK or Kuryakyn direct, but definitely not H-D. Their's are only extended by an inch and these are at least 2-inches longer.

    I solved the problem of not remembering who I bought stuff from , or what I bought , by keeping everything in a folder .

    When it comes time to sell a machine I have everything including all maintenance records. Makes it sell easier or if I ever have a problem or question I know who to contact. Just a suggestion

    I know , I have too much time on my hands .

    It does sort of peeve me a bit when I go to look at a machine , ask questions and the seller has no reasonable answer. But that's just me , it's really all my Dad's fault I guess. The dude recorded every gas fill up , oil change etc.

    No flaming intended here

    The parts finder on Ronnie's HD shows the same OEM part# for the levers on the 2018s as the earlier models. Some after market levers use a 1/4" pinch bolt but that's probably not an issue.

    Thanks for all the replies, chester walters workshop are way to high for about the same thing that dennis kirk sells

    MDF48 I like the rear not sure I would like the front, I guess you put both on by the looks of it, not sure I would like moving my foot further up to shift and what is that extension called you have for your front shifter, I recongize the pegs but you added a piece to bring it out further

    I'm pretty sure the front lever is stock length note front lever has 5/16" bolt and rear has 1/4" bolt. Mine is exactly the same and works well. I used stainless round bar and built an extension for my front peg because I didn't know they were available. Mine doesn't have the flats and was easy to install, maybe not so easy to remove.

    Trampas, yes the front shifter PAD has a chrome Kuryaykn extender on it. I am short and my legs are short. After I installed the DK floorboard extension kit, it moved my left foot out as a result. The gas tank and seat spread my legs a good bit already, and moving the floorboards out added to it. So, the extension on the front shifter pad puts my left foot more or less "Back in line" with the shifter pad. However, the front shifter rod is the original that came on my trike.

    Thank you, sure looks like the extended one but glad you responded and it is the stock shifter arm, it could be the floorboards making the difference since those aren't stock that comes on the trike, sure like the looks of them though. Since you said you don't use the rear shifter that much curious how it is up shifting with that style of peg, I'm used to the round style????
