Mighty Mites Question

Okay ... thinking about the mighty mites. Was looking at some of the posts and pictures ... here's the question and I think it's probably mute, but, I gotta ask.

I spent some time and money making the air cleaner "NOT" suck in warm dirty air from the crank case. I'm running the standard pre Rushmore Oval (Like the Look) sans backing plate with the Harley Stage One air cleaner. From looking at the pictures, it almost looks like the mighty mites will blow hot air from the jugs towards the air cleaner. Or, maybe the warm air blows around the jugs and doesn't get to the air cleaner. In any case, inquiring minds want to know .. LOL.

I think I'm correct when I say there is almost no room, or none at all (since the fans point directly at the plugs and cylinders) for the air from the fans to get to the air cleaner side. If there is a bit that gets through I can't imagine it would be enough to foul your air cleaner.

Of course if I'm wrong, or someone has a better 'technical' explanation, they will chime in and correct me!

Apples and oranges. Yes, not pumping hot, oily/watery sludge directly into your combustion chamber is a good thing. The reduction of 30-70 (per Kevins report) degrees that the Love Jugs provides, more than compensates for any very slight increase in air temp drawn into the intake and by slight, I am guessing a few degrees at best.

The air drawn into the intake is mostly fresh air drawn from the front of the trike as it moves down the road. The bottom line is your engine runs much cooler with the fans than without them and that is what matters. If it wasn't a well tested and proven improvement in greatly reducing heat, no one would be using and recommending it.

Alan, IMO by the time the warmer air from the LS of the heads gets as far as the RS near the AC it is already in the forward facing air flow. The temp change @ the AC would not be as hot

Thanks ... I know these things have great reps ... and ... Zook wouldn't sell them and Kevin wouldn't recommend them if they didn't work. I'm guessing I'll have to do this after my Mesquite Trip ... I think that will be the end of the big mods.

Plainly put if you even remotely consider keeping your for now ride "forever" put the Mighty mites on and call it done. I do not run Old Shiney without the fans turned on. last riding season proved the value of them to me. The ET's on the Power Vision readout never went past 245 degrees way less than before. For the cost of heat damage repairs for your motor, Love Jugs are a very cost effective part of heat management for your Twin Cam motor. Just My Honest Opinion Ride safe. Fred

Have now ran over 15K miles with Mighty Mites fans on my 2016 Tri Glide.............I have ran them thru summer and winter.....I leave them on all the time (no matter how fast or slow the traveling).......I don't know how much temperature reduction they cause as I do not have a way to actually measure it on my ride, but I can say that there is "NO MORE PINGING" in heavy traffic with a hot engine as there was b4 the fans were installed, and I no longer use the Scavenger mode as its just not needed......Also, I have noticed no visual change in my air filter cleaning. (seems to get dirty at the same rate as it always did before the fans were added = no difference)

....I mounted the fans to the frame for a more stable ride and reduction in vibration.......Were they a pain in the A$$ to mount this way on the water cooled trike? Absolutely YES! (but well worth it as they haven't budged since I installed them....just don't move around that fuel line from the tank any more than you absolutely have to while installing!)

....These Love Jugs Mighty Mite fans are "AWESOME!" ....(In my personal opinion.......I would not be without them)

Chrome, I think frame mount, yes, myself.

Yeah ... Fred hit it right on the head ... I'm keeping this one long term ... should protect the engine.

Tank lift and Air deflectors is about a 45 minute job. When doing the tank lift do the air deflectors at the same time just sayin... Fred

I've done a tank lift before ... Yea I can see where it's like a two fer ... I still need to do all the 15 k due checks and the three hole fluid change ... and maybe mighty mites too! I think the plate is full .. I still need to do Mom's bidding ... ever debt with an 85 year old stubborn women??? It ain't easy.

Regardless we all feel heat my only point is the Engine Temperatures are greatly reduced with Love Jugs Mighty Mites, my engine hopefully will last longer and run stronger which I believe it will. What bothers some doesn't others. 245 degrees is not a problem for us but 295 degrees is just sayin... Fred
