Infotainment System Map Updates
Has anyone been successful in updating their maps while using a Mac???
I don't really feel like I should have to buy a PC for just that.
I have a net book that I use for win pc ... but ... it is dying a horrible death and not sure I want to trust it.
Some Mac's allow you to dual-boot between MacOS and Windows. Maybe your Netbook will allow you to safely do this? Some info here on ways to run Windows on Mac's. Hope you find an easy and cost free solution.
Edit: Forget the above......I see you just dont trust your Netbook for Windows mode. Perhaps best to use a friends pc to get the files to a flash drive.

It is kind of weird .. I have always been able to update the radio software ... but when I try to update the dealer locations ... nope doesn't work.
Also, when I try to update the Navi files, you must use a windows 7 (or newer) computer to "Purchase for up to $200" ... I would think they would support every platform they can.
I have been trying to upgrade the maps on my 2015 TG. The naviextra. com site says you can do it with a USB drive. What I can't do is figure out how to get the Toolbox to recognise the drive. Then they say you need to connect the computer to the bike. Well that's a little awkward and you need a special cable that is male on both ends.
Any help would be appreciated.
I haven't asked yet ... but ... I'll bet' a dealer will update the maps for you and charge you to do it. Of course, then you wouldn't have the "backup" files.Originally Posted by Jthubbs
I talked to my service department today ... they will do the infotainment maps and dealer locations for a small up charge (1/4-1/2 service), plus the cost of the maps .. since we have rain through the next few days ... made an appointment for Wednesday. I noticed some "Issues" with the maps on my bike, but, they are like 5 years old.

I've decided it's worth the $25-$50 (plus the cost of maps) to just have the dealer do it, I will bring a usb drive and they will put the files on that drive for me so if it crashes, I'll have the files to replace it with.
