TT/T.O.I. Meet & Greet/Ride/Luncheon Event (Deadwood 3 Wheeler Rally)

Tomorrow, May 1st, I'll be starting a thread about what I have planned and the details of the TrikeTalk/Trike Owners International Meet & Greet/Ride/Luncheon event that's scheduled for Thursday morning, during the Deadwood 3 Wheeler Rally. The thread will contain a number of posts of the activities that will comprise the Ride, where and when the staging will occur, pictures of numerous attractions along the route and anything I can add to make this event interesting and appealing for those who wish to attend. Good Morning/Afternoon Fellow TT Members,

I will attempt to give you the details of the TrikeTalk/Trike Owners International (TT/T.O.I.) Meet & Greet/Ride/Luncheon event that I will be hosting during the 5th Annual Deadwood 3 Wheeler Rally. The event will take place at 3 Wheeler Central (parking lot to the Days of '76 Museum). Staging will occur on Thursday, July 11th, at 8:45 AM, departing promptly at 9:00 AM. Depending on the number of members/trikes that will attend, will depend on whether it will be necessary to have more than one group and thus more than one staging. I'd like to keep our groups rather small, say between 10 - 15 trikes/group, purely for safety reasons. More discussion on this during the staging activity. Riding will be in staggered formation (those that have ridden in groups know what I mean) and at posted speed limits. The event will be broken down into 4 parts/legs. On this post, I'll be covering Leg #1, next week Leg #2, the following week Leg #3 and finally Leg #4. So check back weekly so that you'll know what's planned, OK? So let's get started:

LEG #1 Refer to the map.

We leave 3 Wheeler Central and turn right on Alt US Hwy 14, heading east till we arrive at the jct. of US Hwy 85. There we make a sweeping left turn and travel northbound till we arrive at the intersection of E. Colorado Blvd. Here, we make a left turn and travel westbound on E. Colorado Blvd. till we arrive at 1 of 2 traffic lights. With the lights in our favor, we continue traveling westbound on E. Colorado Blvd. till we arrive at the 2nd traffic light. Again with the lights in our favor, we continue traveling westbound into the business district of Spearfish, till we arrive at the intersection with Hillcrest Dr., where we turn left. We stay on Hillcrest Dr. until it meets with W. Birch St, were we turn right. We stay on W. Birch St. until it meets with N. 5th St., where we turn right again. We follow N. 5th St. till it meets with S. Canyon St., where we turn left. We travel south on S. Canyon St. until we arrive at the parking lot to the D.C. Booth Historical Fish Hatchery on the right, our destination for the 1st leg, approximately 15 miles, time 23 minutes. There's no entrance fee to visit the hatchery, but a donation is gladly accepted and appreciated. We'll spend approximately 30 - 45 minutes there before starting on Leg #2. Good Morning,

On this post, I will be covering our destination for #2 LEG of the event, which is Bridal Veil Falls. We leave the parking lot of the D C Booth Historical Fish Hatchery, working ourselves back to where Hillcrest Dr. meets Colorado Blvd. We turn right on Colorado Blvd. and travel to the traffic light at the intersection of Colorado Blvd. and US Hwy. Alt. 14 (Spearfish Canyon Hwy.). With the traffic light in our favor, we make a right turn onto Spearfish Canyon Hwy, traveling south till we arrive at the turn off to Bridal Veil Falls, (6.4 miles, 12 minutes). At the falls, group pictures will be taken. We'll spend about 15 minutes there before continuing to our next destination (LEG #3), which I'll be covering next week. Until then...

Good Morning,

Our destination on LEG #3 is Spearfish Canyon Falls, also known simply as Spearfish Falls. Unlike Bridal Veil Falls, Spearfish Falls can not be seen from the highway. One must take a short 3/4 of a mile walk, which I've read is not difficult. This will give us all an opportunity to stretch our legs a bit. Leaving Bridal Veil Falls, we continue traveling south on Spearfish Canyon Hwy. till we arrive at the Latchstring Restaurant (7.3 miles, 11 minutes). We turn in to the Latchstring's parking lot and park our trikes, where our trek to Spearfish Falls begins. We'll spend around 20 - 30 minutes there, before beginning LEG #4 to our final destination. Good Morning,

Our destination for LEG #4, the final leg of the event, is the Cheyenne Crossing Restaurant, where we will be having lunch. Cheyenne Crossing, Est. 1878, a Black Hills landmark, was established as a regular stop for the Cheyenne WY - Deadwood SD Stagecoach, from 1878-1885. They have a long tradition of western hospitality. Leaving the parking lot of the Latchstring, we continue south on Spearfish Canyon Hwy. till we arrive at the Cheyenne Crossing Restaurant (5.3 miles, 9 minutes). After you had lunch, you may wish to see other Black Hills attractions, such as Mt. Rushmore Monument, Crazy Horse Monument, Needles and Iron Mt. Hwys., Jewel and Wind Caves, or you may simply what to head back to Deadwood Event Center (DEC), visit with the vendors or just take it easy before the rally's watermelon feed, which starts at 4:30 PM. If the latter, you will be taking a left at the jct. of Spearfish Canyon Hwy. and US Hwy. Alt 14, where you will be traveling ENE to Lead, then Deadwood, (12.7 miles).
