Mystery Electrical Problems

I have a 2015 :GL1800:with every thing but air bag. I returned from a 150 mi ride the other day and the key would not kill the engine, the only way I could kill the engine was to use the kill switch. When I got off the bike I noticed the lights were still on,:xzqxz: the key was off and the kill switch was off. It was getting late so I disconnected the ground lead on the battery to shut down all electrical circuits. The next morning I reconnected the ground lead and every thing seamed to be ok.

After starting the engine I noticed only the High beams were on so I pushed the Low beam switch the High beams stayed on and the switch made no difference. I also found out the only way the key would would kill the engine was to put the light switch on Low beams. I have checked the fuses they are all good. I have also heard the onboard computer can be rebooted, can any one tell me how that is done? Does any one have a valid solution to my problem.

Like you say it’s a mystery have you been riding in wet weather lately did you wash the Trike ??��
 
I'm gonna guess that the ignition switch is burned. What accessories do you run from switched power without a relay to reduce the load going through the switch? If the answer is more than "none" you could be heating the switch up and melting the innards.

Just a guess.
 
Is that a canbus electrical system? If so, they are weird. Since you say the high beam stayed on when you switched to low beam(I think you said that), my guess is your low beam is out and it's screwing everything up. Or it could just be a bad ignition switch if it is just a regular electrical system. I would check for corrosion on all the connections. Especially grounds. Those cause weird things to happen too on cars. Not sure on bikes but almost has to be the same.
