    Default Removing Fairing Mirrors

What is the best way to patch the hole in the inner fairing where the mirror was bolted? Found some medallions that stick on but look a little tacky. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jerry

Maybe something like these plugs? These are from the hardware dept at Lowes (pics from thier website). Check at Menards, Home Depot or stores like them. Might also check at a good hardware or auto store -

Go wth the flat plastic plugs. On the small holes, I wedged in 1/8" wooden dowel, sanded at tip, painted flat black. Use RTV silicone from the inside of fairing. You can barely tell they are there.

Boom, what mirrors are you using. Are they from Harley Davidson?

Check wuth your Harley dealer. I'm pretty sure they sell plugs for that specific purpose. I'm going to need the same thing because when the rake kit went on I can no longer use the fairing mount mirrors. Never really liked them anyway. They looked nice but I had to stand on my head to see what was behind me!!! I have both bar mounted mirrors and fairing mounts on it currently and it looks sort of tacky.

This is what I have so far but I am not satisfied with it. They are gas cap covers sort of curved.

I know I answered this post in another forum. However,... I like repeating myself,... lol

Even though I have the older inner fairing. When the fairing mounted mirrors are removed. There's the unsightly holes.

    I did the following -

I have the Kuryakyn Magnum Plus long stem mirrors (1412) that I once had on my '05 RG (glad I kept them). I've since purchased the H-D split vision mirrors (92190-06) that I MIGHT install today, once I get the garage heated up! brrrr!

Zoood, I have the same small convex mirrors but the handlebar mirror stem is in the way so you could not see the small mirror. Yeah I put it on both forums in hopes of getting more ideas. Thanks for the replies guys, Jerry

Think outside the box... maybe instead of filling the small holes... cut them bigger and pop in some nice speakers or fill them with something functional like a toggle switch, etc. You know when you do something "different" people will look at it and think...WTF... I might have to try that on my bike. Maybe you will be starting a new trend.

Best of luck anyway my friend

Never been comfortable with what I could see behind me with Fairing mounted mirrors on my Street Glide. The mirrors with long stems are probably what I need, however, if those Harley split mirrors are out wide enough I would try them, but in the catalog, they don't look like they go out wide enough. Let me know what you think? GO CHICAGO BEARS!

The split handlebar mirrors are longer than they look and work well much better than the split fairing mirror I replaced. I broke my neck and am fused scull through C7, I have no movement of my head at all and need all the help I can get to see around me. I have been riding 15 years this way. I have used a lot of different things to see and these rank right up there with the best. Thanks, Jerry

I measured them against my current Kuryakyns and they have the same outward reach. I just like the idea of having the fish-eye mirror. GO STEELERS!:woohoo:
