Looks much better to me...closer to #38 which is a nice looking leading link.

Better have stacybg give his blessing on this one, he has the experience, and knows what works, and how to fix what doesen't.

Got back from a trip to South Dakota and Colorado on Sunday. Awesome time. Awesome scenery.

Been helping my GF's daughter paint her new house before she moves in. That sucks. I've been reminded for the last 3 days as to why I hate painting the inside of a house...lol. But it's her first house, and her dad is a pos, so I help out.

Will be back at the design phase and pulling wires from the 3.8L over the weekend. Good news is I had the motor turning over with a battery right before I left on the trip. Plans are to have it running on the makeshift stand before putting it in a frame. Then its a matter of extending/shortening wires as needed.

Looking forward to checking out everyone's projects and progress.

    Thanks for everyone's input.

Steel for the trike and camper frames, and aluminum sheet for the fuel tank have been ordered for delivery Thursday.

Plans are to pick up some 17" wheels that should work out fine. Was wanting 16" wheels, but can't beat the price. If nothing else, they'll work for mock up. And the tires I pulled from the vette will fit on them.

Had a pretty good Saturday. Went riding on the RK, had lunch at the Fin Inn in Grafton, IL, crossed two rivers on ferries and road back home. Sunday was even better. Got to work on the frame most of the day. Used the new cold chop saw. What a time saver it was. Anyways, here is a pic of the frame work. Squared up and tacked together.

What you see is mostly welded at this time. Have quite a bit more to weld, but not bad of progress.

Update: Front steering support is welded up short of the neck tube. Rear framework has been started and will most likely be finished this weekend.

Front frame also helps out as a bench...its flat.

The struts will be attached to the upper rear frame.

Would like to thank irmagoo for his strut spacer idea. The original strut location would limit me to a 26" tall tire. After spacer, only the width is limiting depending on the backspacing. Thanks again.

It now sits on the ground. Well, on car dollies which make it easier to move around. GF will be making the bearing cups for the steering neck this week.

Started the wiring yesterday. One of the steering bearing cups is almost done. And started to prime the frame to help stop the surface rust from forming.

Looks like progress on all fronts.....wiring can be a nice diversion from frame work....it is nice to let unformulated ideas "cook" while working on something that is figured out!

Hahaha, that's a good one LarryA! Don't know if all of the wiring is as figured out as it should be. I had a couple of wires that I mis-labeled "Fuse Block" that went no where near the fuse block. Oh well, live and learn. I have my niece's wedding to go to this weekend so I doubt if I get much done on the wiring or the frame. Will be making her and her new husband a firepit between now and then. Which means I'll also have to get the plasma table fired up and rolling. If it isn't one thing, it's two more.

However, the steering bearing cups are coming along nicely. The GF's machine instructor is letting her use them as a class project for her Mastercam and CNC project.

Lets just say that I learned to look at all things. My GF came out Saturday evening when I was working on the trike and asked where the dipstick was. I looked at her thinking what the hell kind of question that was....I pointed at the front of the engine and said "right there". And then realized that the dipstick and the oil fill hole was under the electrical box. Not a good move on my part, duh!

So spent Sunday through about Tuesday cutting the bad location out and putting the new box in on the front of the framework. Which puts the electrical components right behind the back seat. Bearing cups are done, will start setting the steering neck and stuff in this evening. Then onto the fixing of the inner tie rods, mounting the radiator, and coming up with an exhaust setup. Anyone ever use the 12" bullet mufflers?

nice layout for electrical in a dedicated area. Mine ended up in about 3 areas.

Understand about location of things only too well.....1st component... no problem, then, compromise on everything else.

But therein is the challenge, and most of the fun!

Currently trying to figure out where to put the battery in relation to the fuel tank and the cables for the motor. As everything gets finalized, the wire nuts will go away. If you look at the earlier pic of the wiring, everything was put together with wire nuts to make sure that everything worked like it was supposed to.

Steering cups and neck are welded together and tacked into the front of the frame. Will be welding them in this evening once I get my welder's trigger repaired for the 4th time. Then I can start on building the forks.

Steering cups welded into the neck, neck welded to the frame. Lined up fairly easy. New inner tie rods installed and fairly aligned. Neck needs a little clean up. Tried a couple of wheel/tires from the GF's grand cherokee on the back of the trike. Went from 7 1/2" of ground clearance in the back to almost 10" and from 9 1/2" in the front to 12" along the front frame. I like the heep tires.

Hmmm, none of them look upside down to me. Maybe turn your screen 180 degrees?

    Which ones?
