What model VW used for Ht1800?

I have a 2003 Goldwing with a Roadsmith 2011 HT1800 conversion. Does anyone know what model VW was used to create the HT 180O conversion unit? If I ever need parts I would like to know what model to search for. Thanks,

Ken

Ken, Call Roadsmith with serial number of the trike kit. Thay should be able to get you a parts list for you kit. I got one when I had my 2004 Goldwing trike in 2015. It list all the drive line parts from u-jonts to brakes. I could email you a copy but yours may be diferent depending the year your bike was triked. My parts list states for kits built after March 1, 2011.

Mark.

Thanks for the info. I have the serial number for my 2011 Roadsmith (installed in 2011 but I don’t know what month) I have the number so I will make contact with Roadsmith.

Ken,

Did you ever get the information that you needed? I have a 2010 R/S (Goldwing) and was kinda wondering the exact same question(s) for a "just in case situation"

Thank you!

Ronnie

Ronnie: I have had no response from RS factory. I call or email, leave a message, but no one returns the call. I have just recently purchased a 2010 Honda 1800 with 2016 RS HTS 1800 and would like to know the information about this model. I will call one of the authorized RS installers - maybe they will know. Sorry.

Ken,

When you get the info, would you please post your info, our bike's are almost the same make, year, and model...

(they may be on a holiday/vacation week, being the Xmas season, and new years)

Ronnie

I went to the Roadsmith site and could not find a place to search for what year VW part numbers were used.

In the Goldwing Conversion Owner's Manual I did find VW part numbers but no corresponding VW years to go with it.

Maybe that is good enough to get the correct parts from NAPA or what ever, but how about Roadsmith?

It would be nice to have the exploded view or parts listing for the bike.

Mine is a 2012 converted in August of 2011

So if I missed where to look for the parts list can someone post the link? :D

Thanks!

Steve

Hi Ken , and Bubber , The VW Parts are from post 68 Beetle Type 1 and Type 3 IRS . The Disc Brakes are Empi Upspec Items .

I doubt You need to worry about any "just in case --" here , all those parts are just straight up bullet proof . In terms of costs I wouldn't bother cutting road smiths lunch , they deserve Your patronage re spares , there has been serious R&D development gone into engineering

that rear end . My ride is 69Type 1

If it turns out , Roadsmiths are gone (which I doubt ) Im pretty certain the Hosts of this forum will help You out with specific part No's

Hey Kiwi Mark thanks for the info. Roadsmith is not gone they are alive and well in beautiful downtown White Bear Lake MN.

I would always prefer to buy any spare parts from Roadsmith especially since they are only 25 miles down the road.

That may not always be possible if your thousands miles away on a road trip.

Each time I have been in Roadsmith aka The Trike Shop they have been great. Taking the time to talk to me and help me out with any item or questions I wanted to discuss.

I just wanted to be able to have an idea what was on the trike in case I ever needed to get a repair on the road.

I like to buy local and Roadsmith is a great manufacturer in my book. They actually give a damn about their customers, I found that out first hand.

And no I am not affiliated with Roadsmith in anyway, I just have one of their products that I am hoping to put a lot of miles on this coming summer.

God bless and stay safe and warm out there.

Hi Bubber , I hear You , likewise , its 75 miles for me to just get to Perth .

I couldn't afford a breakdown on any ride , the bike would be gone before I was out of sight . I too am loyal to My suppliers though need to have a backup plan involving knowing alternative parts suppliers .

So without upsetting anybody , the VW bits are in the EMPI catalogue which You will find on line . All the parts suppliers should be able fix You up easily .

EMPI even have tutorials , so with that catalogue You should be able to get You of the brown stuff easily , As previously noted , the parts Post 68 beetle IRS , so its straight forward .

That conversion kit left Me gobsmacked when I read about it only a few days ago , it looks well thought through and is a bargain , at the price .

Hope this helps .

I gotta tell you I had to lookup the word "gobsmacked".

It caught me off guard as to what it meant.

Pretty funny some of the slang used in different counties.

Glad to see there are people all over the world enjoying RS trikes.

Good Day mate.

Bubber

Jumping in late here. Just went through this with my trike. there is a silver sticker on the conversion frame. they seems to place them anywhere they wish. You are looking for a 5 didget frame #. in my case it was 04088. That means it was #088 in 2004. the bike is a 2003.
