I can see that in a populated area ... around here ... you want as much light around you as possible ... the irony, I don't drive at night ... LOL ... well except to Bible study during winter.

    Default Home Stretch

Okay ... I have all the Styro Foam and carpeting back into the trailer. Well except the nose piece. I hated that there was no carpeting on that area, but, I understand why. The angle if the nose is problematic as well as not wanting to put holes in the the outer shell where screws could help hold it up. As you can see in this pic, the PO held it up with Gorilla Tape.

There was no carpeting on it at all. Kind of cheesy.

Since I had taken the carpet out of the floor area to mount the box to the frame, I can use that to cover the nose area and go with some other floor.

Disclaimer: I have never done a single bit of upholstery work in my life, but, I'm never afraid to try new things.

Here's what I came up with:

The small area will go in the vertical area of the nose and the larger square area will go in the angled part of the nose. Now to figure out how to get it to stay there ... I'm thinking maybe some screws through the nose. I'm gonna think on it for a day until I'm confident the glue will hold the carpet to the styrofoam. The staples into the styrofoam, are hopefully there just until the glue dries. I don't plan to remove them, but not putting a lot of faith in them to hold long term.

If anyone has an idea how to hold that piece up, other than the spray adhesive I've been using, I'm all ears ... I'm thinking about some of the stud thingies ... little metal plate with a metal spike that would be mounted to the inside of the wall with adhesive, then the spike is pushed through the styrofoam and carpet, then a washer looking thing is pushed on that stud to hold it in place.

PS. I plan to clean the stain with Resolve before installation.

    Default Flooring

Harbor Freight has these interlocking squares called anti fatigue mats. They make a mat that is 50" x 50" ... 1/2" thick.

The inside of the trailer is like 36" x 44" after you account for the styrofoam and carpet. Since these things were on sale for $7.57 including tax for the 4 of them ... trim, and lay on the floor, maybe glue if necessary. I was gonna use a horse comfort mat from Murdock's, but, they are $40 something. Don came up with the anti fatigue mat.

    Default Found some liquid Nails

Found a brand new unopened tube of liquid nails (heavy duty) that i think is gonna work just fine. I can do it to the lower end, press it into the shell. Once it cures, do the angled piece ... I'll keep you updated.

The weed ... Supposedly ... that's a plant that mom planted ... gets huge every year, then falls over, I wack it down and haul it to the dump ... if you're talking about the logs, that's what I use to get the trailer vertical without damaging the lights.

    Default God Loves an Idiot

It is finished (where have I heard that before????) Not really, but close enough to call it ... kind of like a presidential election ...

So I went out this morning ... early, 6am. There were clouds and it was looking grim ... but ... I really want this done.

I decided to test fit the panel, I messed up (but God made sure I messed up in the right direction .. ... he takes care of the tiniest of creatures .. why not me ... I need way more help.

When test fitting the panel, I realized I had forgot to take into account the thickness of the carpet, especially when "pulled" over the styro foam. To say it's a tight fit is an understatement. Wasn't sure it would fit at all. But it did. It is tight enough that I'm not sure it'll ever fall, but, I did put a bead of liquid nails all around the edges of the big rectangle, pushed it up and it stayed. Pretty sure it's not coming out, no matter how much the trailer bounces. I still need to put carpet on the two squares of styro foam that fill the corners. The PO opted to do it in that manner to make it easier to get in the multi angled corner. So that will be an easy finish, might have to trim some for the width of the carpet.

Next was the flooring (anti fatigue mat). I measured the open floor, cut that size from the middle of the mat and laid it down. Put the fuel can and spare back in just to make sure the mounts were in the right spots, yep.

About that time the sky opened up and the rain came ... really, I'm not building an ark ... although ... that might have been less work.

So I am done with the exception of the two filler pieces.

    Default Done

Went to the DMV, dropped off my renewal on the Truck ... came home and it wasn't raining ... Hmmm ... maybe I can get this thing put to bed ...

I did ... was able to get the little filler pieces to fit tight enough that I don't think I can get them out ... Good thing.

I may do one more thing to the little gal ... I might go get another round of the anti fatigue mats ... single layer is kind of thin ... like 1/2" ... it's not that I'm gonna put anything heavy in there, but, for $7.57 it might be worth it. Time will tell.

I intentionally didn't glue done the floor ... after thinking about it, if the floor is just laying, I can pull it out and get to all 10 bolts that hold the box to the trailer ... Lord help ,me it there is ever a need for that. Maybe I should glue it down, just as a commitment to not take it apart again ... LOL.

    Default One Last Time

Forgot to put the little light Back in.

Also, I did go get another layer on anti fatigue mats, did two things, little more cushion and covered the gaps between carpet and mat ...
