Default Two thumbs up for Long Ride Shields

I looked to add this post to an earlier string but through my search it appeared that most discussion was three years old (2016) so I started a new one.

Earlier in the month of May the "Minister of War and Finance" (the wife) and I went on a 1700 mile ride from northern Utah down to the Grand Canyon and back up through outback Nevada. Good ride but cold and lots of rain; I posted in the ride forum with more detail.

Seems like every ride we go on we learn something new and since we have had the three wheeler less than a year we are still in the steep part of the learning curve. This time it became painfully obvious that the stock HD windshield was at best not doing its job and at worse making matters worse, it was directing rain back off the rim and onto my face shield; thought I was going to drown.

First thing when we got home and dry I started exploring a new windshield; ended up buying a LRS (Long Ride Shield) 10 inch flat top recurve. Ordered and had it in my hands in three days time. My, oh my what a difference. I am in no way associated with these folks but if every purchase yielded as spectacular of results as this one then the world would be a much brighter space!!!!

I am one of those who tend to let everyone within shouting distance know if a product or company is woefully inadequate; only fair that coin have two sides:

So, a shout out to LRS! Very prompt service; excellent quality; easy install; night and day difference in wind-flow, wind buffet, viability, etc.

Could not be happier with this item.

I have had the same great experience with their windshields and their fast shipping.

    Default Yes.

There has been many post in this forum about LRS windshields. It seems the flat tops are the most popular. I have ordered many shields from them and have had good luck with them and I especially like the flat tops. I would add one thing though, be careful and not over tighten them. I learned that the hard way TWO times (my fault) and had cracks at both ends. It is hard to beat their prices, especially when they have a sale going on. Dollar for dollar, best value around on shields.

They used to post sales here ... haven't heard from them in awhile ... no sure why. I have a 10" recurve that I like, but, It's a light tint and at night I can't see too well ... ... they were great to be as well ... like 3 days order to hand.

James P. can you see through the top of the shield at the curve or is it distorted? I do look over my stock shield but sometimes I do look through the top edge.

my natural line of sight is just over the top of the shield but I can look through the top and see quite well. Very minor distortion in maybe the top inch but not enough that I am bothered by it. Actually I don't believe I noticed it until I looked for it.

Interesting comment Fuzzy! Don't understand? I too have a tinted shield and it's fine at night. Matter of fact it cuts the glare of on coming head lights. No darker than the tinted glass in my cage.

I often get their email ads, good sale prices, and I've wondered about the re-curve......Seems logical this would work well directing the wind up and over the driver. Glad someone posting here about it.

I have a LRS Ultra Recurve 8" in Medium Tent. I've mostly used it during the winter months, as I do have others. So far, I've had no problems due to the MT, although now I only do limited night riding. I prefer to look over my shields, except during rain or very cold winter rides. Like others have said, my Customer Support experience was Top-notch.

I have said this before I have many LRS windshields but only use two a 9" flat top medium tint and a 7" clear these are (for us) the best all around windshields for passenger wind deflection hands down that we have found. Last season I never switched to the cold weather taller shield the short one worked so well. Name: DSC00124.JPG

    Default Long Ride Shields

I currently have two L.R. Shields and have nothing but good to say about them....but are the prices inching up little by little lately? Still an affordable option...

I would say they are really going up, went there and $120 and can't even get it in clear, never have seen them that high before, maybe when they have a sale they will be better priced, that $120 was for the flat top, didn't really look at anything else, seen one for $150 but it was for the 2013 and down. Maybe I will go with the freedom shield, heard they are really good. Guess I should have bought one back when you can get it on sale for around $45 or so, this would have been on my 2016 but never did buy one.

    All for now Trampas

Can't remember when I got the last email on a Long Ride sale, used to get them quite often, maybe they have established a good customer base now and don't need those good sales now.

I think I first found out about LRS on this site. Since then I have purchased 3 or 4 from them for two different trikes. Been happy with every purchase. I'm guessing the most I ever paid for one was around $60 because I always waited until they were on sale.

If they ever put their prices between $120 and $150, or higher, I'm guessing I'll be done with them and start looking at other brands though.
