Day 8 Continued-
The sign was telling the truth...
...Curvy scenic road...
...hard to beat the enjoyment of roads like this!
Getting closer...
...the road was recently resurfaced...
...nice ride, and there we are!
Mary took hundreds of photos...
Just a few have made it here...
...the views seem never-ending...
...and new around every curve in the road.

I know this is getting long for just one day, but we rode some of the most scenic places to ride, and Mary took well over 500 pics, plus the GoPro footage, plus the drone footage...it is getting close to a wrap for the day.

...literally forget about the road for a bit, which is very unusual for me.
Being able to ride thru...

Day 8 Continued-
Doing it old school. Yeah, I finally started using GPS on the TG a few years ago...but on the Sporty and the Softail it is still done the old way. lol
Ok, this way looks like more fun!
Pulled over for a battery change, and to let the slow-pokes get way ahead of me so I can proceed at my preferred pace.
Back rolling...
...and thoroughly enjoying it...
...but all good roads eventually come to an end.
Time to head back to camp. We had a bit of a hold up at some road construction near Hill City...15-20 minutes...
...but soon we are back rolling.
At 60, I've tried numerous times to figure out what the allure of the open road is, especially curving ones...
...I've not figured it out, but it has been in my blood for over half a century, and it does not get old! I'm just happy Mary likes it almost as much as I do.
Day 8 will be concluded soon.

I carry one of them things in my back pocket, but hardly ever take it out. But after riding out there 26 years, we've been on most of the hard roads. We love riding out there.
We're going to start going out at other than Rally time. It looks way better riding without all the other bike traffic

Kevin, been back from the 3 Wheeler Rally for a little over a week...hot and muggy back here on the east side of SD. Really enjoying this Ride Report as just recently traveled many of the same roads. You were just about a mile from our place in your last pic of Sheridan Lake.
The road construction s of Hill City can be a long wait for the pilot car....especially with no shade. There was road construction..chip sealing..up on Iron Mtn Road when we were there...again a long wait in the sun. But, the roads are worth it!

Day 8 Conclusion-
As we head back to base camp...
...we are savoring our last day riding in the Hills.
We have seen a lot of deer today, including a bunch that ran in front of us.
This is the best action shot we got of one.
Headed down to Cheyenne Crossing.
When we got back to camp we...
...put the drone up in the air one last time...
(look at this shot closely, you will see a bald eagle in it...it circled the drone 5 or 6 times before losing interest)
Got a bit of footage riding down...
...out little "private drive".

Day 9-
Today we're headed for the Grand Teton National Park.
Saying goodbye to base camp...
...beautiful area, but time to move on.
We're chomping down the miles...
...and we stay dry, weird feeling.
Before you know it, we're getting close to Dubois...
...last time we passed thru here (a couple of years ago) we stopped and had lunch...
On that trip we met decman, from XLForum, and stayed the night in the Super 8 there. This time we're passing right on thru.
Crossing the Continental Divide as we get close to the GTNP...
...I "had" to stop and get a pic of me in my flip-flops standing in the snow.
Yeah, it was cold, wet, and windy...
...but this is where we're riding tomorrow!

Day 10-
Last night we stayed at Colter Bay in the GTNP. First place we've paid to stay, but inexpensive at $17.
But this morning it is time to ride!
Headed for a scenic spot to unload the bike...
...came across this pullout...
...perfect place to unload the bike and start exploring!
Bike is out and Mary is ready!
Looking back as we pull out for a day of riding.
We have all day to ride...
...the roads are nice...
...and the views are spectacular.

...but we took all of them, even wooden bridges...
...and gravel roads...
...to get closer to the mountains.
