I just today completed installing Thundervolt 50 spark plug wires, as well as new HD OEM plugs & DK Customs cooling deflector wings.

I have not got to hit the road yet for a test ride, but I fired it up & it was like a different animal.

The old plugs were not bad, so the new beefy wires get the praise.

I measured the resistance on the longest old wire & it was 14,000 ohms. This wire was a lìttle over 30" long. The new Thundervolt 50 wire of the same length was 90 ohms. That is amazing & my Freewheeler was a different beast & I can't wait for a test ride.

Thanks to DK Customs for selling a great product at a fantastic price.

Back in the Shovel days, I got in a argument with a guy I worked with when I put a Super coil and big wires on mine. He said It was a waste of money. It didnt make any difference... Well his bike had a Super coil on it... It went bad and I gave him my old coil to use till he could get a new one... He was getting a stock coil... He couldn't believe how bad his bike ran with my coil.... He replaced his with a Super coil, and got big wires.... I won the argument

Night and day difference

When racing we could run a bigger gap on the spark plugs using supper coils and Accel wires

Apples to Oranges ........

Back in my drag racing days [early 60's] i ran packed 440 wires with raja clips...I got the clips and spools of wire from the local speed shops...And made them to fit though the spaghetti headers... The right wires do make a difference ....And the orange color was also cool looking...:D...

I am thinking that new wires are on the list for the Fat Bottom Girl

Fuzzy, I'm a shopper & DK Customs has the best price on the web. That coupled with some fresh plugs was amazing to me.

I am also looking forward to testing the cooling wing deflectors, but we currently have some severe storms moving through.

UPDATE:

I got a 90 mile ride in today and my Freewheeler is running great.

It's simply amazing to me that plug wires could do this. I highly recommend these plug wires from DK Custom Products.

Did your new plugs come in a box made in India?

Mine did, so far so good

Good on you for getting a better than stock wire set:clapping:

IMO, we cannot have a hot enuff spark especially with 4 plug heads

I believe HD got the combustion chamber right on the M8 engines, something the after market worked on for the shovels and evo engines

I agree about the M8 for now, I'm loving it.

I remember you mentioned the India thing with the plugs before & I used my GOOGLE machine.

Federal Moguls parent company is Tenneco & FM has facilities all over the world, including India.

Apparently, Bosch plugs are made there also. I thought they were German made.

Good to read you are enjoying the benefits of a great plug wire.

Here's the LINK to them for others wanting more details.

Over the years we've done a lot of testing on plug wires and we've learned a few important things-

1. Good Plug Wires make a difference you can feel.

2. Plug wires wear out (get weathered, crack, etc.)

3. Many plug wires, including OEM and Screamin' Eagle are NOT that great, and many times not to HD minimum Specs when brand new out of the box.

Thanks for a great product Kevin.

I found out Taylor was a Missouri company.

In my older cars, new plug wires would test at 7-8,000 ohms.

On my long test ride, I would estimate these to provide a 5% performance boost, judged by my seat of the pants dyno.:Dorag:

The specs on the M8 plugs stated .031-.035"...I went with .032

The gap on the old ones was about .033

I forgot to mention, I torqued the new plugs to 100 inch/pounds. That is inbetween the specs in the service manual & I have always used it because it's easy to remember.

Just bought a set for my science project.... a very big THANKS Michael! Can't wait to actually hear the motor run and ride the trike to check them out....

I am going to the chalkboard now and write 50 times "I must remember patience is a virtue" :Dorag:
