Reverse identification and issue question

I can find no identifying marks on the reverse kit on my trike (1990 Tour Glide). It's likely as old as the conversion, about 28-29 years (one of Torbleau's earliest). I've included a photo in the hopes that someone on here knows who manufactured it. Lately it's been giving me a bit of trouble. It goes into reverse quite easily, but it's a bear to get out, especially on an incline. I'm also interested in knowing if it shares oil with the trans, or is separate. If I can determine the manufacturer I may be able to track down more info. The PO was no help. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. BTW, this forum has been very useful.

That's a Champion reverse without a doubt. If you know where to look, it'll say Champion (but hard to see with the exhaust in place too). Mechanical reverses can be "difficult" to engage/disengage if there is tension on the gears (on a hill for example). If this is the case rocking the bike forward or back will help relieve the tension on the idler gear and allow you to disengage. It does use the tranmission oil to lubricate, never seen a mechanical reverse that uses it's own oil supply.

I'm new to trikes, so I'm trying to feel my way along. Lot's I don't know yet. Never thought I'd be on a trike, but never thought I'd have Parkinson's and weird side effects from chemo, either. At least I'm still in the wind. Thanks for your help!
