That's a Champion reverse without a doubt. If you know where to look, it'll say Champion (but hard to see with the exhaust in place too). Mechanical reverses can be "difficult" to engage/disengage if there is tension on the gears (on a hill for example). If this is the case rocking the bike forward or back will help relieve the tension on the idler gear and allow you to disengage. It does use the tranmission oil to lubricate, never seen a mechanical reverse that uses it's own oil supply.
I'm new to trikes, so I'm trying to feel my way along. Lot's I don't know yet. Never thought I'd be on a trike, but never thought I'd have Parkinson's and weird side effects from chemo, either. At least I'm still in the wind. Thanks for your help!
