I assume the police have been notified, other than that, not a lot you can do.
You could all chip in and install a camera on top of that poll. The police would love that information after the next problem.
It's official ... my little neck of the woods has become a crime area. This morning I went out at 6am to install the new mirror mounts. I noticed a Blue SUV that was just parked on the cul-de-sac. Figured it was my neighbor's.
About 20 minutes later, Nacho (my neighbor ... his name is Ignacio ... but everyone calls him Nacho), comes over and asks if the Blue SUV is mine, or if I knew whose it was. Told him nope. We went over and the passenger door is damaged from maybe someone trying to open it with a tool ... the ignition is pulled out and hanging by the wires ... and the radio is ripped out of the dash. Hmmm ... sure looks like it was stolen and dumped in the sleepy little neighborhood I call home ... ... I know this is probably common in lots of areas of the country ... but sad that it has come to my area. Poor Nacho works on the oil rigs in Moab, Ut. and needed to leave at 4am to get there ... the grey explorer is his truck and he can't get it out. The rest of the cars belong to his wife and two teenage daughters. I asked him if he could take one of theirs ... he just laughed and said ... "Only if I want to die".
So if anyone has lost this vehicle ... let me know ... ... cul-de-sac is starting to look like a used car lot ... what can I say.
I assume the police have been notified, other than that, not a lot you can do.

They were called about 5am after he checked with the neighbors. He knew it wasn't mine because I still had driveway space...
Okay so there is more to the story.
Apparently ... this suv eluded the police last night. Not sure how in 2019 a big honking suv eludes police with radios, choppers and all the crud we as taxpayers provide them with, but, okay.
After they eluded the police, they dumped the car right there. The police are certain it was the suv owner's sister and brother in-law that were driving. Forgot to mention the owner of the suv is in jail and facing deportation ... yep, he's got a record and he's illegal. The police have a bolo out on the sister and brother in-law and they have unmarked surveillance on their house.
The officer who came to check out the suv sat in his cruiser for an hour or so hoping the pair would show up to get it. It was kind of funny, the officer was hiding behind my other neighbors motor home. He finally called for a tow truck and they impounded it. The officer did ask Nacho if it was okay they didn't tow it right away. Nacho's boss switched Nacho to night's since they didn't want to stop the rig and the guy who did the night shift is still working until Nacho gets there. I guess they will both split the day ... what ever works.
So ... my sleepy little existence got a few minutes of excitement. Not sure I could handle this kind of stuff every day. I need a nap.

Back in the 80's I had an employee's father left for work at 5 a.m. found a old beat car parked behind his car in their driveway. Turned out to be a stolen with a body in the trunk. PD questioned the father and mother several times. Then never heard any more about it. One of the many reasons I have really good video cameras on my house.

I think I'll tell the senior apartment in Grand Junction to remove my name from the list.
Wyoming or Montana If I get any closer to Canada I may sneak over the border.

Hey Fuzzy, from looking at the pics, I believe I know where you live. I'm guessing just a little south of D 1/2 Road and between 30 an 31 Roads, am I close? My brother owns a house in that area and I frequent Grand Junction.
