Thunk in area of right rear wheel

I have a noise in the right rear wheel area that I first thought was something in the tire but nothing was found. It has gotten louder and I am at loss to what is causing the noise. It sounds like a Thunk and doesnt do it every revolution of the wheel but it does do it quite often. I almost sounds like something is knocking on the fender down low. I had some friends listen and look at it and they thought it was a u joint. I checked the driveline u joint (2014 Champion IRS kit on my 2007 Goldwing) and found it was in fact failing so I replaced it. Noise is still there. I am wondering if the cv half shaft would make such a noise? I have about 30 thousand miles on the conversion. Any ideas? I am willing to check them all out. :0) Thanks!

Check where the sway bar is attached to the frame.Not the end links but the actual mounts on the frame.I saw both break once and the bar could be bumping against the frame while your moving.

I have ordered up a replacement from Champion so, with the help of a good friend of mine, we will replace the cv half shaft and should be good to go. I haven't replaced one before but it doesn't seem to be to difficult. Guess Iwill find out.

Well, I ordered up a new CV short shaft from Champion for my trike and, with the help of a friend, put it on today. Less than an hour to take the old off and install the new one. Pretty easy! When it was time to pull the old one off, I pulled on the shaft and felt it separate inside the upper boot. We cut the boot open and found that the keeper for one of the round bearings had failed which allowed the shaft to knock around. gulp! Anyway, all back together and no clicks or thunks! Now to make up some of the riding I have been missing!!

back when i was driving truck, i had a thunk in the left front wheel. seems i hit a skunk and threw him up around the wheel well and fender a few times before he go spit out.

had to smell that sucker for a week.
