Any body tried the LED 1157 replacements?

I can give you my experience and it is not good. I bought 1157 / 3157 LED taillight bulbs from www.superbrightleds.com thinking that would be a big upgrade. I didn't read their recommendations and bought white bulbs. Luckily before I installed them I did happen to read their recommendations and learned that with a red lens you should run red bulbs. You can go to their website and read the info. So I returned them and swapped out for the red LEDs and installed them. Looked good to me and worked great.

But on a road trip I was leading a group of four bikes two of which were my 2018 TG and a friend on his 2018 TG. He was directly behind me. At one of the stops the guy in the back asked my friend if he had changed his taillights since they were so much brighter than mine. He had not. His were the stock incandescent bulbs!

Wow was I shocked but when we parked side by side and compared his were definitely brighter.

I can't speak for other LED bulbs but I've bought from Super Bright before and they are pretty big in that area and reputable. I think to get the additional brightness desired you are going to have to go to a complete LED taillight setup. . . and they are not cheap. . . and you need two of them which is why I just went back to the oem bulb.

1157's, so your talking about the front turn signals, correct? I looked at your profile & you state you have a 2009. You will most likely need a load equalizing resister.

Also, keep in mind that you need to change your lens to smoke or clear.

You'll never know for sure unless you park two similar TGs side by side and compare LED bulb to stock incandescent. Just sayin'.

I bought Pilot bulbs from Walmart. I have them in my Bushtec trailer, and I had them in my 2010 Ultra and now my 2012 Triglide. These are brighter than the stock bulbs. I compaired them on the trailer and Triglide both, when I installed them. Just let the turn signals flash a few times and everything was fine

The original poster profile says he has a 2009, so no CANBUS system.

I went with Sylvania ZEVO Superbright 3157R bulbs in my 2015 Freewheeler and they are bright. I got them at the auto parts store and they had both the 3157R ZEVO and the 3157R ZEVO Superbright. What I had read in the past was to be sure and get the Superbright. As others here mentioned you need to get the red bulb for red lenses.

I need to up date my profile, I traded the 09 last year for a 2016. Do I need the resitor that Silvainia sells too? And no I can't spell worth a damn.

No, not with that year, the CANBUS system should recognize the reduction in amperage. Removing the OEM bulbs initially threw a code for me, but clear it & you should be fine.

I found when installing these bulbs, if the tail light does not light as soon as you install the bulb it is reversed polarity

Just a word before you button it up and have to take it apart again

Dont forget di lectric grease on the pins

And there is a BIG difference in 3157 R and the super bright bulbs
