Had something new happen yesterday. Was heading back to Mena, Ar. from Little Rock after doing a Patriot Guard Mission and ran through a heavy rain just before Hot Springs on hwy 70/270 and in a slight off camber turn the old girl went almost 90 deg. from hydroplane. was not running very fast(maybe 50) but I turned into the slide and drove it out. Maybe my old flattrack days from the 60's and 70's helped me. Scared the beachs out of my wife, she thought I did it on purpose. May look into new tires mine are still stock 2013 tires. I’m sure the flat track days helped. Tires ! Just got to know your limitations . BTW - nice recovery

Not to make light of it.. But in the rain Simon and Garfunkel had the right idea in the 59th Street song.....Slow down you drive too fast..Gotta make the evening last.....

Better tires will help some, But with better tires you'll tend to go faster [overconfidence] in the rain till you hydroplane at a higher speed.....

I had already slowed from 70 to 50 and after that was 45 to 40 with flashers going. But all is good at present and we made it to the home place.

Out side of a complete blow-out, Which rarely happens now days..... There is Nothing like hydroplaning that will get your attention and possibly ruin your day.............

Just got Goodyear Comfortred installed on mine before our trip west. Rode in some really hard rain for 350 miles 1 st day. They handled very well on wet roads. Search on here for more info. Several have put these on & love em. I will never have Dunlops on again.

I too have Goodyear ComforTreads on the read and an Avon Chrome Trike tire on the front. Ran through some really, really heavy rain today. Did not hydroplane but did hit some puddles and felt a slight slip but only lasted a split second and bike never really deviated from its course.

I’m sure some tires run better in the rain than others, but it’s not how hard it’s rained or is raining. If there’s standing water on the road your chances of hydroplaning go way up. I’ve been in hard rains, yellow cells, red cells and one tropical storm and as long as there’s no puddles or rivers flowing down the road I feel pretty safe (yes I do slow down). But if I see water collecting on the road I slow waaaaay down after my first hydroplane experience. Was lucky and not something I want to experience again.

We unexpectedly Did hit a deep pocket of water on the Indy by-pass. Tri went through with no issues. Car one lane over did a nice swerve went it hit.
