Motor Trike rear tire
Currently using BFG Radial T/A size P 225 / 60 R15 which are the original brand and size. Has anyone switched to a narrower size and or different brand. Wondered if Michelin’s would give better rain traction. Any input would be appreciated. Trike is a 2010 Motor Tike adventure with independent rear suspension.
I went from 245/60-15 to 215/70-15, near same OD but 4 pounds lighter per tire. I did install longer studs and 1/2" spacers to put the slightly narrower tire's sidewall back near fender opening, just for looks. Not really needed, I've seen others have great result without the spacers. I run same 22-25 psi I always did. I have had one episode of hydroplaning in a real downpour gulleywasher not long after my swap, but it was an unusual rain and that episode was as I crossed what looked like a wide creek crossing the road.
I think going from a 225/60-15 to something like a 205/70-15 would work great.

Thank you for you input. That was the tire size I was thinking about. Was thinking about possibly a Michelin brand tire as well. I installed Michelins on a truck and the rain traction was so much improved over the same sized BFG.

215-70-15s and seeing if the Ford rim would line up on the trike rear and give it a test ride.

I have a goldwing 2000 gl1500se with a champion kit. I had Dunlops on it, they hydroplaned a number of time, it was to the point that in the rain I stayed all tensed up waiting for the back in to get squirrely. I look & talked to a lot of people. I went to gateway tire co. the manager I talk to road a trike and he showed me a (Yokohama Ascend) tire. it had deep tread and was the same size of my tires . I let he put them on. I have run in 2 rain storms that I am sure my old tires would have been dancing, these yokohama stuck like glue. my first time to buy a yokohama it is a 75000 mil. tire the 2 was $124 out the door. how many miles I will get ???
You got to remember guys it’s not a heavy car, it’s only 1200-1500lbs. Not only are you hydroplaning, but your also FLOATING !

I would agree 100% on the floating. It rains here almost every day from March to October.
Im in the rains almost daily somewhere between 35 and 70 mph for my ride to work and or home.
Thankfully I don't have an issue with the trike hydroplaning. I keep the pressure low under 25 pounds. Actually Im at 22lbs. I want the rubber on the road not me floating on top of it.
