Skip, none of the hand controls are lighted from the factory, if you want them you'll have to pony up:

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave in a well-preserved body, but to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting...Holy Sh!t What a ride!
If you ride in the darkness hours I can see where $250 would be money well spent. I don't see how anyone could memorize all the buttons and functions on todays machines. HD with what looks like nearly a plug and play set-up is great. Versus one button type. That little cluster looks fairly easy to install. Which means it's probably a bear in reality.
The only reason some people are still alive is it's illegal to shoot them.

I don't do very much night driving except during the winter in SW Florida. Then the only thing I have to "retrain" myself on is the dimmer/high beam switch. Have never really felt the need for lighted controls, but it would look cool.
Current: 2019 Trike (custom 130ci T-Man kit with Darkhorse bottom end)
The HD site says the reverse button requires additional wiring. Anybody have any details on that for a self-install? Thanks.
Thank you for your help, dealer told me the same thing.
About three years ago, I put the lighted control buttons on my 2014 Harley Tri Glide because of occassional night riding. What a difference!!!!! Before I installed the lighted control buttons, I felt like I was "fumbling all over" to find the right button. With the lighted control buttons, it is like driving in daytime. Fooling around trying to find the right button can be dangerous and hazardous specially if you take your eyes off the road at night to find the right button. Also, if I remember correctly, the lighted buttons are a "Plug-N-Play" using a connector. The buttons may be a little expensive; however, I guarantee you will appreciate them if you drive occasionally at night. Allen S.
One more thing I forgot to mention. As far as I can remember, there was not special wiring needed for "R" reverse button to light up. Hope this helps with your decision. Allen S.
The lighted control button switches are on sale at New Castle Harley Davidson for $200.48 which is about $50 off the normal price. The website is https://shop.newcastlehd.com/part/71500248c

I also had these put on my 2014 and I second your opinion. I am amazed at how useful they are at night. It also gives you the PTT button so you won't need to get one if you decide to do the CB upgrade. So if the CB upgrade is in your future, I would definitely grab the lighted switches first.
Put them on mine when one of regular controls failed under warranty. The dealership allowed me to just pay what the difference between regular and lighted controls was ($90).
It was well worth the money as I ride often at night. Especially made a difference for me when trying to turn from bright lights to dim when meeting a car, and not blowing my horn at them instead. LOL
