Just wanted to reach out and say hello. I am in the process of converting my 2005 HD Utra Classic to a Trike. The conversion I have selected is the Road Smith HDTR. A friend had his CVO converted and he and his wife just love it and get a lot of enjoyment from it. So the Road Smith choice was sort of a no brainer for me. I just hope I get to enjoy it before winter weather sets in! Ordered the kit from a local dealer in mid May and still to this day no information on when the kit will ship to my local dealer in Conroe. Very disappointing to say the least. I have been in constant contact with the dealer and RS and now my phone calls to RS seem to be ignored. My wife and I have already delayed the start of our vacation by more than two weeks based on a promise made to me by RS's owner that my kit would ship by the end of last week. Well obviously it still hasn't shipped and worse, I can't get any answers. If I don't get any response by the end of this week we will be forced to go on the trip without the motor cycle. This could leave my local dealer dealer in somewhat of a predicument in that we will be gone for about two months therefore not being available to inspect the finished product and make the final payment until we return home. I truely wish this was not the case. And my reason for this post for the most part is to ask the quetion to reades if others are in the same or simlar situation and if so how did you resolve the issue? I welcome any and all comments.

Hello Paul

welcome to trike talk from east Texas, the trike kits are not builded until ordered, back when got mine it took 3 week to receive it and get it painted before my installer could start work on it. I am like you I don't understand why you can't get a update on your Kit

Paul, as you know from our frequent conversations, I am as frustrated as you are, that is why I have encouraged you to call RS directly. In our last conversation, you said that the owner told you it would ship by July 26th. That has come and passed as have several of my other customers orders and all are not happy, but I can assure you it is not from my lack of staying on them to fulfill their ship dates as promised. I have three bikes sitting in my shop waiting on kits and a very well paid mechanic getting paid to do nothing.

Hello Paul! Welcome to TrikeTalk!

Welll... about the delay .... very frustrating I know.

Keep looking forward! Living in Texas you know we can ride almost all year round!

Hello and :welcome: to Trike Talk, glad to have U with us. :clapping:

The manufacturer is most likely slammed with work and back orders. The best time to convert your bike to a trike is in the fall/winter time when things slow down. Spring/summer that's when demand for conversions increases. I'm retired from the business. :sofapeeker:

This is true, this time of year they are all pretty slammed and all are running behind. Between Trump's best ever economy and the new automatic trans Goldwings, the conversion business is back to where it used to be at least for now. RS and CSC have staffed up to handle the volume so hopefully the issue will be resolved soon, thats what they are telling me.

Yes Randy I know you share the same frustration as I. And in no way, shape or form do I blame you! We had numerous conversations over the last couple of months. The situation is as bad, if not worse, for you than me as I am not the only customer of yours, and likely other dealers as well that is affected by what now appears to me to be very poor customer relations from Road Smith. As we have talked, and as I've said to you before, I can be sympathetic with a trike kit manufacturers that becomes overwhelmed with new orders and with delays from their suppliers. It's a trickle down effect for sure. What really upsets me (and you) is the lack of communication and creditable answers when we do talk to the manufacturers.

The first delay was do to the builder not receiving differential parts to complete that portion of the kit. And as you will recall, I was sympathetic and understanding of that delay. This was in early June if my memory serves me right. At that point, the projection you gave me, based on information you received from the owners of Road Smith, that consider about a week to get the kit put together and shipped to you. From there I figured a week for you to install the kit on my bike. This projection would still allow my wife and I to leave on our vacation as planed by the middle of July.

I felt satisfied with that at that time. Then after 2/3 weeks passed and I did not receive the call from you telling me you received a ship notice from Road Smith on my kit. So you and I were back on the phone discussing the issue and at that point you were very frustrated because you were not getting answers from Road Smith. At that point, you strongly suggested that I contact Road Smith and explain my concern. At that point I was wondering if I would be taking my new trike on vacation with me. As you know, I took your advice and called Road Smith and spoke to Jim and explained my issue to him. He seemed very understanding of my issue and asked me if they would get my kit into paint and get it shipped to you by the 26th would that work for me. I told him yes and thanked him profusely.

Now of coarse this would now put the start of our trip out about two weeks but my wife and I sucked it up and said ok. Then, as you are well aware, the 26th has come and gone and as of the end of business today, you still have not received a ship notice! This puts both you and I in a bad position as noted in my first post. It looks as though we my be leaving the trike behind. Very disappointing and frustrating.
