GPS Mount

I have a Ram Mount on the handlebars for both my GPS & XM Radio.

I know people probably look over the GPS mount up there but I sure wouldn't want it in any part of my normal view of the road. I used a Kuryakyn mount that much like a Ram mount but smaller. Works just fine and have never had a problem. But I do understand wanting to get a GPS up more in your line of site. But won't the mount and GPS stop a goodly amount of air flow?

Sully, my setup is much like yours. I have a sun shade over it but it’s still almost impossible for me to see no matter how I adjust it. I do have a friend with the ez-mount and he really likes it. I’m just trying to get a few opinions.

The video on that website is not a very good picture of what you actually see with the ez-gpsmount. The camera position in the video is very low. I have seen bikes with these mounted and I didn’t notice where they would a problem with your normal driving view. Most look over their windshield or through the upper part or so it seems.

I was a little concerned about air flow also but I’d gladly give up a little air flow from that area to be able to use (see) my GPS.

I would be a little nervous of the weight of a GPS hanging of the vent ... they have been known to crack at the screws after prolonged sun exposure, extra weight might move that process along faster.

My GPS is hard wired to my right handle bar, below the line of sight. At first I had terrible glare problems, but took some hard plastic, molded it to fit the top and sides of my GPS, and secured it with hook and loop on the back of the visor and the back of the GPS. Left enough slack in the bar mount to move the GPS, without jiggling all about, and could adjust the whole unit, depending on where the sun was. Now, works great in the bright sun!
