    Default A Few Trip Pics

Not a whole lot of scenic pics travelling the interstates but since we're foodies we have had some great meals along the way. Our first overnight was in Atlanta at 'Papi's Cuban and Caribbean Grill.' Chicken soup with smoked pulled chicken, noodles, and cocoyam, Empanadas, 2 beef and 2 chicken, delicious.

Our next stop was in Marion, IL to meet our friend "Tri-Greg" who just joined the forum a few days ago. He took us to an old feed mill that was converted to a restaurant, looks like they're having a shindig next month, lol. Couldn't believe it but they had a baloney sandwich on the menu, a thick slice, pepper jack cheese and a fried egg, it was very good.

Dessert!!! This custard stand has been operating for 60 continuous years, the replica Statue of Liberty has been there since the beginning.

Finally made it to the Chicago area and our daughter and son-in-laws place after 3 days on the road, we headed out to a Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives place called 'Kumas Corner', famous for their burgers & mac and cheese. We were here about 5 years ago and it is still outstanding. All their burgers are themed from heavy metal music or bands. We had the 'Lair of the Minotaur' - 10 oz. burger, caramelized onion, pancetta, bourbon poached pear, brie cheese on a pretzel roll. Mac & Cheese was with bacon, jalapeno, scallions & breadcrumbs.

That's all the pics for now, we're leaving Wednesday and heading up into Wisconsin on the bikes till Saturday.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave in a well-preserved body, but to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting...Holy Sh!t What a ride!

Wow Gary! You all are eating good! Save some room for some good BBQ and a trip to the Italian restaurant in Maggie Valley! See you and Jo Ann soon! Safe travels!

Our 4 day trip to the Wisconsin Dells turned into a 2 day trip due to the weather, it was a 200 mile trip to get there and it rained for about 150 miles. The weather report said 30% rain, lol, gotta love Mother Nature. Once we were at our son-in-laws cabin and settled in, the forecast changed to 80% rain and storms for the next 2 days so we headed back home the next day.

We found a little breakfast place Friday morning before heading home, loved the sign they had on the wall

About noon we stopped at Shipwreck Bay for for a break and some libations.

Just a small town we passed with a river running through it.

Almost home and stopped for dinner in Hartford, WI at a place called the 'Mineshaft' Fabulous fish tacos, fresh cod with chimichurri, cojito cheese, salsa, and garlic sour cream.

We toured the Jelly Belly factory yesterday, a little hookie but interesting, no pics inside though.

A bounty from the kids garden

I didn't get to ride the '56 Panhead, it hasn't been running right and fouling plugs every 20 miles or so. Tony had it in a shop and the carb is pretty well shot, someone enlarged the jets by hand, not good. Also ran a compression test and it's below specs quite a bit, so we trailered the bike home. Tony is going to pull the motor over the winter and send the heads out for a valve job, and do the rings and such. Hopefully next spring it will be up and running properly, 24 years is a long time to sit in a barn.

At least I got to sit on it, LOL

Leaving Chicago for Ohio tomorrow to visit other daughter and hubby.

You are just a little bit north of me. Maybe 2hrs. It's a good chance you will pass through here on your way to Maggie valley. There is some very good riding in this area
