    Default Front Tire Air Pressure?

    2005 GW Road Smith Trike here. Recently someone called my attention to the information under the tour pack lid, duh, first time I knew it even there. It's posted that the front tire pressure should be 36 psi, I've been running 41 for a long time, now I now I doubt the 41 psi number because I see the Honda recommended tire pressure. Thoughts on that are welcome.

    Bill, what front tire are you running? I am running an Avon and they call for 40 - 41 lbs. in their tire. I run 40 lbs in mine.

    2008 GW Motor Trike... lone rider..... BT45 in forward rotation.

    I start the ride with a cold tire reading of 37’sh.

    Tried the 41 psi... VERY harsh ride for me.
    New course heading Mr. Sulu: ...2nd star to the right and straight on til morning...!!

    Scooter and Sassi....2 furrever.

    I'm gonna bet if you drop it down to 36....Or even a little lower you are going to like the ride a lot better, 41 psi has to be like riding on a pogo stick...

    Doug, I'm running the BT45 (rear) up front, so understanding that the tire is harder, or more stiff, 36 might be a better psi for a softer, or less harsh ride up front.

    Gonna give the 36 psi a good ride with co-pilot on the pillion and see how it goes. Not sure how low is too low in hot Florida roads, but maybe could drop it to 32 just to experiment, that would be it. I don't want to get into a number that the tire would overheat and break down. I would surely be giving it the 'feel test' as ride progressed.

    I guess 32 won’t hurt for one run... I would be concerned that handling would feel sluggish and then, as you mentioned, the stress on the tire.

    With 2 onboard I would start out in the mid 30’s at the lowest.

    Running a BT45 I would run a lower pressure too because of hardness of the tire. 36# is a good starting point I would think.

    I'm running 36 LBS. in our front Tire Michelin Commander II rear. But that is on a Harley. just sayin... Ride safe Fred

    41 in Front, 30 in Rear and 20 in Shocks. Works for me. .

    If I remember correctly ... LOL ... not likely ... the 41 psi thing on a Gold Wing came from the early 1800's cupping around 4-5k. I started seeing it on my 01 at like 3500, dealer told me to jack the pressure to 41# and it slowed down and actually got less cupped.

    With a trike, so many variables, rake, tire, rear suspension, etc. On my 08 Wing/09 Champion Solid axle with 6* rake, I started at 35# and actually settled at 36# as the optima for me and the trike.
