3 M has some very heavy duty hook and fastner, look at this, a few on here used it to mount the bags on their fenders, I know my cousin on his 2017 has the velcro on his, I'm going by what my friend said, same bag he had on his 2014 but he had the screwed on, when he traded for his 2017 he took them off and used velcro or something similar and he spends the winter in Arizona and then here in Iowa for the summer, no problems according to my friend, they just got back from Sturgis a week ago.

    All for now Trampas

My issue is not with velcro, per se ... My experience with velcro is that the glue used to hold the velcro to the bag or the trike, will when it gets hot ... we hit 100* from mid June to early September ... the glue tends to loosen from what ever you attach it to ... so ... for instance ... I mount the bags with velcro on the bag and the other part on the trike ... what will happen is the velcro will hold and the glue will fail ... This happened with the tour pak organizer, the little lights ... just about anything you mount with velcro with adhesive ... the glue just will not hold up in the heat.

I reached out to seethroughbraz ... they asked for pictures of the bags that I want to mount. We'll see what comes of that ... who knows ... this may be a plan of action.

Default I think I have an Unrelated Solution

Doing my morning garage dive (working on the Gold Wing pile), I found the armrests that originally came with the ) 03 Black Wing ... I didn't like them and took them off first day. They are made by Hopnel and came with a little pouch screwed to one of the arm rest pads.

By adding a strip of the "hook" part of the velcro, I can attach it to the backrest under the cover and attach the cover to it.

This will give me a little pouch to put my credit card and other little stuff in ... when Harley's pet palace is on the rear seat, I'll just store it in the pet palace's pocket ...

I'll post a pic of it on the backrest after it regain's it's shape ... got it stuffed with rags right now getting it to do just that.

Just get one of these and clip on your belt loops. It's not too girly looking.

Got the back rest pouch "installed". Easily removed from the backrest.

    .
Fuzzy, you are 100% correct about the glue. I went through the same thing years with my tour pac organizer. It kept coming unglued because of the heat. So I finally wised up and had the dealer run the bolts from the luggage carrier through the lid and the organizer = never came loose again.

The Velcro is great especially the plastic 3M stuff - BUT - the glue is not - period. Heat will eventually loosen it. I don't care what anyone else says, I will not trust my expensive cell phone or camera to glue, no matter how many people (few) say theirs never came loose.

I love my H-D saddlebags - well worth the extreme cost - to me.

I do use Velcro for other things though - just not for anything expensive.

    Good luck with your project.

I did that too ... but ... I really wasn't all that upset when the organizer came loose ... I couldn't get my shark helmet in the tour pak when the organizer was in it.

I may look into putting a piece of plastic between the screws of the luggage rack with the swivel light on it.

in 4 plus years of using the system that SeeThroughBraz has I've never had an issue with the glue coming loose....and we have some dame hot days here....been in the 100"s nearly every day in August.
