Here we go again, looks like this weekend some time Florida will be under the gun again

If this storm is on track, I will likely lose power some time Sunday night

Thankfully there is ample time to prepare to ride the storm out, or leave town!

Hopefully no lives are lost, and property damage is minimal.

I’m thinking/hoping Dorian turns north then east back out to sea before the heaviest part of the storm gets to shore.

We have lots of Florida and east coast members here and the forum is quiet..I miss the chatter!

WOW! The tropics have mushroomed with disturbances after having been so quiet... 4 on the Atlantic side in various locations, including Dorian, and 1 on the Pacific side.

Not having had to deal with hurricane preparedness projects I am curious as to the sandbag project. The Weather Channel always shows people filling sand bags as fast as they can - every time they track a hurricane...

...but my question is...what happens to the sandbags they filled for the last storm and are there not piles and piles of these already-filled bags kept somewhere...like in a corner of the yard or wherever people keep their plywood for the doors and windows?

Unfortunately, a lot of the sand and wood ends up going to the curb as trash

I just don't understand the disposable society I try to recycle as much as I can

They put it in a dumpster with the plywood with all the other stuff they bought for the storm, And when the next storm some comes along they start the process all over again...What a waste...Especially since Plywood is Florida's state tree......
