Welcome, you will get a lot of responses. There are a lot of things that will interchange or you can build up a custom sporty trike.

I have a 1979 sportster and 1981 sportster. Both are damaged. Will the parts interchange? If they will I plan to do a sportster trike conversion. Thanks, rj100n2.

I think the answer is, some will, some won't. I think I'd contact a HD dealer parts guy and ask which parts are interchangeable, if any. But probably will need to get part specific.
The only reason some people are still alive is it's illegal to shoot them.

Check out these 2 links. You can compare the parts from a 79 to a 81. Quick glance by me says they are a lot a like.
