Hi Everyone
I have had an on and off time with my reverse motor on my 2014 Tri Glide for the last year or so.. last week it finally went out completely.. I have read on here and on other sites, that the best place to send the motor for repair is a place called Performance Starter/Alternator in Canton Ohio.. Well seeing that I work 6 blocks from this shop, I removed the motor and took it to see what they had to say.. I have found out a lot of info on this little guy.. such as when Harley first started making this motor, there was a small slot on the end that was open to the elements ( such as rain... they could have siliconed it shut )
there was no way for it to run out.. this caused the inter workings to rust and corrode ( such as mine ) later they added a little tube for the water to drain out, this works but it still is not the greatest.. another thing that also happens is ( and they... Harley... don't tell you ) we tend to lay on the button to long or give it a lot of little bursts in order to back up.. both or no no's..
the most is a 10 second button press and then let it cool for at least 2 minutes.. then press again if you have to.. Try not to back up on an incline.. or with a passenger onboard.. they rebuilt my motor and I installed it yesterday.. works excellent again I will definitely heed their info.. the cost to rebuild it again is not in my budget.. I thought I would pass the little info I got on so that it may help others
