Well, I switched from my conventional trike (after putting 30K miles on it) to a new 2017 F3 Ltd Spyder (have 25K on it now) and I am still pleased with the change. As I have mentioned before, my old trike was my Cadillac and my Spyder is my Corvette. After 50 yrs on bikes, I don't worry about what everyone thinks, I'm just proud to still be on the road!

Two wheel riders are slow to coming around to accepting the 3 wheel crowd, and especially the Spyder or Slingshot. They just don't consider them "motorcycles". Oh well, I am enjoying my extended time on the road that my 3 wheels have provided and continue to do so until I get that call from above that my time is up..........

CanAm has always advertised this concept as a SportTrike which it is compared to convention trikes. The new 2020 is pretty impressive and just looks sporty. Just think designing a trike around steering and handling, what a novel idea

I confess to being one but not because I don't consider them motorcycles. I just like leaning my bike over to turn. So I'm watching for improvements in Tilting Motor Works and others. Plus we currently have 2 Spyders now and have owned 3. So I'm fully aware of what they are. I think BRP is an idiot for not having a hand brake on their machines. They would get many more to convert if they did. I don't care that there is an available accessory. I've installed that on one. But the first thing a test rider does after accelerating is to hit the brakes and a hand brake not being there scares the snot out of them. So I'm not at all surprised they don't get many converts. I hate taking one of ours for a simple test ride after working on them because I know I'll look for that hand brake. It would be super simple for them to link the brakes and at that point I might actually consider one. But BRP has their head so far up their back end that they'll never do it. JMHO

I've ridden 2-wheeled motorcycles of various brands for about 60 years and just traded my Indian Chieftain on a 2020 Spyder RTL. I also miss a front brake lever but after practicing emergency stops several times I understand why they don't have one, To get straight line braking you cant mess with the bars just let the spyder handle it if you grab the bars in a panic stop it will scare the heck out of you because you cause it to swerve back and forth where as if you just keep a light touch on bars it will stop very straight.

I'm thinking the 2020 would suck up more fuel, but that's the nature of the beast with the new configuration, but that a minor detail, if you can afford the Spyder, you can afford the fuel. Since the wife is with me pretty much all of the time on the trike the top case would remain in place, and I didn't see where the arm rests were accessories, if no arm rests, she ain't up for the 2020, that's for sure. Here's the thing, the more room there is on the scooter, the more stuff that will go on the scooter that's a given and a convenience, and a nice one on the long ride. I will continue to follow, there's sure plenty of time.

No, the hand brake is not a deal breaker for me either, I adapt just like I would adapt to the clutch. Heck, I reckon the wife could learn to drive this thing easy, on the long ride I could sit back and check out the scenery, maybe.

They have arm rest in accessories plus the passenger seat and hand grips are heated and controlled by the passenger.

All you've said has a lot of merit, and as you've said, they have improved a lot since the big 'heating problem'. The price at around $31/32K for the RTL with all that I would need for two up touring is a daunting number, spending that kind of money, I do not want problems. One big thing as you also mentioned, is the maintenance and repair problem, the horror stories abound about getting parts, down time, repair techs that can't repair, believe me, I think about that. Trying not to pick on the Spyder, because other brands experience the same problems. I'm just not sure I'll be riding a Spyder, but it does grab my imagination seeing myself and the wife out on the tour on that thing, somehow it does capture my imagination. Next time I'm in Sevierville to visit my friend, I check out the dealer you mention and see if I can rent one. Thanks for the comment.

I just bought my 2020 Spyder RT Limited for $27,300 for storage it has a front trunk 2 side bags and a tour pac more storage than a Harley or a Honda. It comes with heated seats and grips for both rider and passenger, Apple or android play, ABS, Stability control, traction control, power steering, and more plus with all that its about $10,000 cheaper than a Harley Trike and $18,000 cheaper than a Goldwing trike. And as far as maintenance I've owned numerous other motorcycle brands and they all have stories of maintenance harrows but I've found that if you keep your service up there are few problems on any machine.

I need to check my tires to find out what's stamped on the side, just been busy riding, feeling the rush. Haven't done much 'poking around' just do what comes naturally. :>)

I know what you mean, got mine last Tuesday and already have 1300 miles on just local riding. I ordered the Lamonster cat delete pipe and hopefully will get it soon. When I install the pipe i'll poke around some.

Bill... once you get a couple of tanks filled... please give us a rundown on the mpg.

The salesman told us 40mpg. Another source said 29mpg in the real world....

My first tank when I was really taking it easy with the eco mode on I got 47 mpg then second tank not in eco mode and pushing it a little was 35 mpg didn't check the next tankful and my last tank was 40 mpg that was both in eco mode and off eco mode not pushing.
