Check engine light after changing to new bars.

I changed out my stock bars on my new 2019 TG and now I have a check engine light on. I rechecked all the wires I unplugged and plugged them all back in again. Everything works fine except for the light on the dash. Any suggestions??.

Me too, as I have never seen a check engine light on with no stored codes

You say everything else is working correctly? The engine starts and runs OK?

I took it for a short ride up and down my street and as far as I can tell it works just like it did before. All switches work, lights, radio, and other things seem in order except for the check engine light. I've checked the DTC codes several times and no codes noted. ??

Very strange, I hate to say it but you may have to have your dealer hook it up to the digital technician scanner

I am surprised to see NO codes displayed, these newer can bus systems are tricky, tho it would NOT surprise me to see some sort of hidden problem on your trike not being picked up by the on board diagnostics

Just for grins, un plug your neutral light switch after starting your bike. Shut it off and scan for codes. I am curious if it picks this up

Do your brake lights and cruise control work?

How do I do that? Not sure which is the neutral light switch. The brake lights did work, haven't checked the cruise control.

RS of the bike in front of the starter you see a switch with 2 wires

By removing 1 of the wires with engine running we are trying to set a code to see if in fact your on board diagnostics works and you can clear a code

I started the bike, it showed the neutral light on. Pulled the black wire with it running and the neutral went out. Shut off the bike and open up the DTC and it shows no codes. Tried to start the bike without using clutch and brakes and no start. Put the wire back on, the light lit and was able to start the bike. Pulled both wires with it running and shut it off and looked at the DTC again and no code.

I also went back out earlier and the cruise control works great.

So it appears that it's not registering codes on the DTC.

Did you pull the main fuse prior to changing the handle bars? Might want to turn the bike on and put it in the accessory position, then pull the main fuse and then turn the switch to off. Wait 10 min, then plug the main fuse back in and see if the engine light come back on. If it does it is time for a trip to the dealer I expect as it is under warranty.

I did as above and it didn't make a difference. Started the bike and still had the service engine light. Let it run a bit then shut it off. Tried the DTC again and it finally has a code of U000100. Reset the code and started the engine and still have the check engine light.

UO100 is a loss of communication with ECM, very strange code if it starts and runs

Just for grins test your battery voltage, check and make sure battery connections are tight. Check the connections @ the ECM to be sure they are plugged in all the way, I would not be surprised this could have been missed @ the factory

The tech said that I had started it with something disconnected and that was the reason for the check engine light and needed the computer to reset it. I did start the bike with the headlight disconnected, so it was something that I did. I'll know not to do that again.

I am still curious why you could not get the codes to read out on your display?
