SF will insure a professionally built trike. Might hesitate on a home built VW trike. Depends on the quality of the work.

State Farm coverage in Minnesota
I am shopping for a trike and I contacted my local State Farm agent to see if they would cover it. They said they had never insured one here in town but would check on it and let me know. Anyone in Minnesota have State Farm Coverage?

That's what they asked me on both the Stallion and the GL1500 Road Smith, they do not like home built kits.Originally Posted by FREDG

I have had State Farm Insurance for 47 years. Everything we own is insured threw them. When I bought my Trike in 2008 I went to my agent got the Insurance and then went and picked up the Trike in Paducah, Kentucky. 17 days after I purchased the Trike I was near Big Lake, Mn on my way to Princeton to see our daughter and son in law to show them the trike. A deer came out of nowhere and I hit it causing about $10,000.00 in damages. Contacted my agent right away. Had the Trike hauled to Moon Motors in Monticello for repair. State Farm had a check to me for the repairs within a few days after the accident. The estimate went over what was at first given no problem. Got the Trike back in mid Sept and didn't get much of a chance to ride it that fall. The next spring when riding with a group my CB wouldn't work right. Contacted my agent and he said we will reopen the claim get it fixed. I took it back to Moon Motors they replaced the CB at another cost of around $1000.00 State Farm had no problem with the claim and paid it right away.

My rates did not increase because of the accident.
When I went to insure the Trike the premium for the full coverage was $140.00 per year. One Hundred Fourty Dollars.
On my Policy it shows that it is a 1996 Gold Wing T the T meaning Trike.
