Lift kits for Tri Glides
Hey, I’ve been reading about these 1.5” lift kits and have question about the effects on handling. When I was a kid dirt bikes had these tall front wheels 21” to 23” and 16+-“ rears. It made the steering quicker and lighter by I guess transferring weight away front the front. It seems that the lift kit would add weight to front by raising the back end of the trike, but people are saying it improves the steering. ???
My experience is a slight improvement in steering ... but not having the rear sag and the pipes drag on speed bumps and driveways is HUGE.
The DK comfort lift was my choice on both trikes ... I don't have any experience with the "standard Lift". The comfort lift was the first thing I ordered for my current trike was the DK Comfort Lift ... even before I went to get it ...

Lift is good. One of the first things I did & made steering much easier. Comfort Lift. Also consider ProAction shocks for rear & install both at the same time.

I put the lift kit on my 2011 Tri-Glide....And it just out and out improves the handling [Steering].......I originally put it on in 2011 just to stop scraping my pipes and to eliminate the sagging rear end look.....Back then that's what it was for, But then everyone was pleasantly surprised on how it improved the handling ....Originally Posted by Skoalrams1833

Steven, as posted above it does make a positive improvement. DK Comfort Lift is the way to go.

To answer your questions, which I fully understand the apparent contradiction....
The lift does give better clearance for the pipes
The "Comfort" aspect helps the shocks work a little better for a little better ride quality
The lift changes the trail of the Trike, making for easier steering. You can see a full explanation of rake and trail and how changing them affects steering at this LINK
Yes, by lifting the rear, more weight is shifted to the front tire, especially under braking with the front brakes, this give additional stopping power.
This also gives the front tire better grip in the curves for improved handling.

I did the DK lift on my 15 Triglide. Big improvement, as this changes the rack and trail.
