I'm going to buy a taller and wider windshield for cold weather driving,
has anyone compared LRS shields to Freedom shields ? Or is there a better
choise ? I'm looking at a 12inch , lite tint, in a wide option for less wind

I can't help you but I'm sure there will be somebody in and let you know. I do know Freedom shields has the wider touring model that is wider where you bolt it up and is thicker with polished edges, the LRS has the ultra wide and some other wide ones, they don't have a wider one down at the bottom like the Freedom shield.
I was looking at both myself but now my bike is put up for the winter so I will get mine next year. I know a few on here have the LRS and the Freedom shield and are happy with what they have. Me, I would like to see a light tint in person before I decide which one I want, always had clear and happy with that, maybe a light tint would be ok, but need to see in person and no one around here has that.
All for now Trampas
I'm 5' 8" and a 9" is tall enough for us, we use a flattop elite. Warm weather we have a 6" or maybe a 7" works great. I never have used any other brands. Good luck Fred

I have the wide LSR windshield. It is very good. Check the web site there is a $20 discount
Freedom Shields has a wide windshield in different heights and tints. That's what I have and love it.
Another vote for Freedom Shields, I have a 12" recurve touring one, the wife loves it, no wind on her.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave in a well-preserved body, but to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting...Holy Sh!t What a ride!
I have a Freedom also, but, must have got one of the Seconds. Scratches easily & does not shed rain water worth a crap. It does keep the wind off though.

I ended up with two Freedom Shields, 7" and 8"....both are wide Touring Models with Medium Grey Tint. Also, have a LRS Ultra Recurve, 8" Medium Tint. Use to switch out winters between the 7" FS and the 8" LRS, but found I really missed the Wide Touring, so that's why I ordered the second 8" FS Wide Touring. The 8" serves me well, but I'm primarily a solo rider.

I use a Harley Davidson 10" Wind Splitter with smoke tint. It is wider at the base than stock and at 10" I can see over it with no problem (I hate looking though windshields). It has a very slight recurve on the top edge and does a great job of helping to reduce the wind on my wife. At $169.00 I think it was a bargain. And it has a really cool little Harley emblem on the bottom edge which makes my Tri Glide go faster of course.
Another vote for Freedom wide touring. Had a 12” and loved it. No buffeting on my co-rider and she thought it was great. Only problem is in heavy rain I could not see over it and because of its width could not see around it either. Changed it out for their 8” and am very pleased with it. Still no buffeting in back and I can just see over it so rain is not a problem.
I have the harley 10ins wind splitter, OMG the distortion at the top is bad,has anyone used Clearview Shields
Surprised no on has mentioned the absolute best shield on the market today and the last one you'll ever need to buy
Won't scratch and can be cleaned with windex and paper towels

I have a F4+4" tinted and vented on my Wing and it provides excellent wind protection and sheds water good.

Have used this one for 5 years on our 15 tri-glide. Works well in all kind of weather.
I have always been a LRS fan, partially because over the years I have landed on some of their great sales. Currently have two windshields from them I switch back and forth with and paid around $60 or $65 for each.
Mine are usually 10" so I can see over them. I have had light tint and dark tint.
I generally have the DW on the back so for fall/spring riding I need to cut down on all the wind I can. LRS has a Reaper model that is really wide at the bottom I'm thinking about ordering. Don't remember seeing it before so unsure if it is a newer model they came out with or what. Just waiting for a good sale.
To be honest just about any of the aftermarket shields are better than the OEM.

I like the look of theHarley 10" Wind Splitter, I will see if I can cut 2 or 3ins of the top,as I do not think any one will buy it
I have used LRS on many bikes over the years. Always a good price.
The one I have on my 2019 was also on my 2014. It is incredibly scratched up. Don't really see the micro-scratches much until riding directly into the sun...when I do that, it is very difficult to see thru because of them.
An F4 may be in the future for me.
