oil temperature dip stick

I have a 1999 Valkyrie trike (Lehman conv.) I live in Buffalo and it gets pretty cold here. I start my engine once a week and need to get the oil 200+ degrees. I found a Valkyrie dip stick on ebay, anybody know if they are any good?

I would think that if you cant ride it for a good 30 + minutes, or let it run for well over an hour, I would let it sit. You are causing condensation to form in the oil, and not burn off. I would bet that just idling you cant get much above 180 or less in the temps up there. My car didn't get over 140 on the way in this morning,,,,,,, 10 degrees here today

I agree with KJ.fill it up with gas add some stabil take for a short ride to get the stabil all through the fuel system,change the oil and oil filter,clean it up,put it on a battrey maintainer,put some moth balls around it to keep the mice away cover it up and leave it alone untill riding season gets here.
Been doing that with my 96se 1500 since we bought it new in 96.
Come riding season take the cover off hit the starter button and check the tires and off I go.
Works for me.

I have a temp dipstick. It works fine, but for some reason, it doesn't have marks for full and add. Compare it to you stocker, and maybe scratch a line on it.

Put it on a battery tender, drop some stabil in the tank and let it alone 'til it's nice enoough to ride!
You are hurting it more than helping by running it that way!!!!!

I had a temp.dipstick on my 99 but I didn't use it that way. I forgot who made it and it did have oil level marks on it.

you are adding a lot of moisture to the inside of your mufflers. it take a good 1/2 ride to get it out of there . In the cold weather you are adding water then it freezes then you start it up melt the ice and add more water . eventually you will a lot of water in the mufflers

Good policy and as one other post mentioned put in the Stabil and service it out for storage, ie: oil,filter,etc, battery maintainer (like Battery Tender Plus) and leave it alone. If you decide to start it later then ride it for 15 or 20 miles.

Hi i bought that dip stick off e-bay a month ago --fits fine works great dont know about the oil line yet --will use my old one to make sure its full than check the new one if need too will cut a line for a mark --their right dont start it unless you can run it for a long time --i started mine once when it was 50 degrees and let it run till the temp fan cycles a few times --then i let it sit --treat your gass and have no worries !!
