Default Experience with Slip Streamer Windscreen??

Anyone have any experience with a 33 inch windshield?? Made by Slip Streamer??? Its made of Lucite

I bought a National V Stream a few years back and have never really liked it.

I scratched the heck out of the OEM one and a new one from Honda is ridiculously priced.

I though about the Plus 4 back then but price was also a factor with it. Too much.

Slip Streamer and Memphis Shade are reasonable but aren't Lexan. ( Polycarbonate )

    I don't really want Lucite.

So I don't really know what to do here.

Im leaning toward the Plus 4 and spending the money.

    One less gun to own.

Do you mean the F4Customs windshield?

It's available in a plus 3 or plus 4 as I recall. It's thinner than the Slipstreamer I had on my 1200 … but it's Lexan MR-10, Lexan core with hard surface on it. Flexible, strong, and glass clear. Bought mine in 2010, it was a plus something that I cut down a little, then tried to break the scrap strip then let it snap back. It looks as good today as then, best windshield I ever had. I don't have a recurve, just the standard. I did cut a hole and install a vent a few years ago.

Yes a F4 custom that's the one that I passed on a few years back. Was/still is over $300.

So 33 you feel is too big.

I see over the National I have now. It leans so far back when it rains. Its right in my eyes.

I would want one with the vent.

Ill have to look at the F4s website again.

    Thanks.

I have the F4 vented and tinted ...and would never have anything else after I discovered this.

I like to look through the shield not over it.

It is a thicker/heavier material than the wimpy Honda OEM shield and does not flex around.

You can use paper towels to wipe it down - never scratches it.

When caught in rain it is easier to see through than the OEM.

You can use regular Windex if necessary - but I find that a semi-wet paper towel followed by a dry paper towel is usually sufficient.

NEVER put a wax or polish on it.

    The optical clarity is EXCELLENT.

I ordered the tint shield because of my sensitive eyes having to face the bright, glaring sunrise or late afternoon sun. My eyes are sensitive enough that I also use a very dark face shield and sunglasses. It also helps with cutting down the bright oncoming headlights at night. But I rarely ride at night now.

Having said that... now that I have moved from BRIGHT SUN west Texas to the often heavily overcast hill country... so far ok ... but I could see how, if caught out in a heavy rain here, I might have wished for the clear shield.

Yes the price causes a throat lump but it truly satisfied all the needs I have in a shield and will be the last one I’ll ever have to buy.

And no - I don’t own stock in nor am I related to anyone at F4.

    Paws and or Carla

One question since you answered it all for the most part.

Is it still height adjustable to some degree as the OEM and the National is??

I think we put that windshield on in 2014 or 2015. This was the basic Custom 4 - not the +4.

I just remember Jim setting it where it was right for me and not sure how much adjustment room there was if any..seems like there was some play with it.

If this helps...I am 5'5". I just measured with a tape measure: at the top-middle point of the shield straight down to the lower end of the "well" or hollow area that the ignition key sits in is 20".

Additionally, while still sitting on the Air Hawk I measured from the OEM seat under the Air Hawk to the top of my head while leaning against the backrest (i.e., sitting straight up) and that measured 33" and there was plenty of windshield above my line of vision.

But... to specifically answer about adjustment room on the regular F4 I would sure contact those guys. They could answer your questions such that you would feel comfortable with your decision.

Just for your comparison... my trike is a 2008 with a 4-1/2* rake, MotorTrike Adventure kit.

p.s. now that I have changed locations I believe I would rather now have the clear shield but the tinted was great while out in the desert. But doesn't bother me enough to invest in another shield.

I happened to run up on a sale where a customer had backed out of deal or something, I think it was returned and they found a scratch near the top, but it was a plus 3 or 4 so I bought it about 1/2 price knowing I likely would cut it anyway. As it was, I never found the scratch, but I cut it so that I can hunker down and look through the windshield if desired, or sit up straighter and see over top. I just measured my eye level sitting still, marked that on shop wall about 20 feet ahead of me, sat back on trike and marked how much I was gonna cut as I looked at that mark. It's in the lowest position, I can raise it if desired. I don't know how tall you'll like, but you'll not see a clearer view. Nascar cars use Lexan MR-10.

My first Lexan MR-10 windshield was bought from a fellow named Orville Sage I think at a rally, it was flat but curved when installed. I think I have it hanging up from a rafter. The F4 was formed with a curve.

Truth is I want it to be high. My current National is curved back so it has zero turbulence for the front and rear passenger at any height.

But when it rains. Its right into my eyes. Im in the rain here plenty.

So Id like it to be higher then normal. This way the rain should go over my head. Hopefully.

Im looking over the top of the National. I have to scrunch down to see through it.

Im only 5' 10 but sit high up if sitting straight in the saddle.

Ill have to give this a lot of thought too many new toys out there to be had.

Oh, I see. I wear a helmet with visor, so I drop the visor … if not already down.

Nope no visor just glasses and a half helmet.

Before I tried ridding a bike with a windscreen..Never needed one. Always had a full helmet and visor in NY.

Came to Florida and swallowed a lot of bugs for years. Then rode a friends bike with a windscreen.

    I was hooked.

Never knew what I was missing for 25 years.

    Oh, I see.

I wear either a 3/4 with attached visor and internal sun shield, or a FF with visor. With either one, I slip some Serengeti #5222 Drivers (love them) in place too. If night riding, I have some clear lens safety glasses that I wear. Usually the visor is "UP" until it rains, sleets, snows, etc if I'm riding or snow blowing, then I can drop the shield too.
