Meguiar's Hot Foam

Nope ... not what ya think so get yer minds outta the gutter ... LOL

Friend of mine (a detailer, self employed) recommended two products for my new to me Jeep.

First was Mother's VLR a leather treatment. Cleans, Preserves and Protects Vinyl, Leather and Rubber. He said this was pretty much the same as Meguiar's Leather Care, but you get more for less money. The more for less is true, 24oz for $8.99 vs 15oz for $10.99 of Meguiar's Leather Care. I'll let ya know how the stuff works.



Second was Meguiar's Hot Foam for the tires. Pretty big can for $6.99. The stuff is pretty kewl. Hold the can 4-6" from the tires, spray evenly around the tire ... walk away. Really Easy. My buddy said not to drive the Jeep for an hour or so until it dried. Also, maybe wipe off any big drops that aren't dry before driving the Jeep. Apparently, While it's wet you could get spots on the paint if the tires throw wet product on the paint. My buddy says it dries in about 1.5 to 2 hours. I'll grab some pics after it dries.



Okay .. now for the million dollar question (okay maybe the $3 question).

The directions say to not use this product on motorcycle tires. Which baffled me a bit at first. It also says not to get the product on the treads. Hmmmm ... starting to make sense now. I'm guessing the product will adversely affect traction if on the treads. I can see on a motorcycle with like 2 spots about 2-3 square inches actually on the road, any adverse effect on traction could be bad ... ... the image of bikes slipping on their sides comes to mind, not to mention the liability in todays litigious society.

So here's the question, does anyone think this would be bad on trike tires? I can see after using it, being careful in turns until any product wears off the treads ... which I can't imagine would take long. I've never had anyone install new tires on any bike I've owned that didn't warn me about the new tires "being a bit slick" for 5-10 miles.

So what say you about the hot foam as a product and using it on the trike. And if you have any experience with Mothers VLR and want to comment, I'm all ears.

There are still some "wet spots" and you can see what has dripped off the tire. It looks really "clean" like a new tire. Kind of like the look.

I use hot foam on my tires and I like it. Have put it on trike tires but keep it off of the front tire “road tread”.

Makes sense, I might use it on the trike ... just put rags on the tread of the front before I spray ... we sure have come a long way since I used to use old transmission fluid to make the tires "shinny" ... LOL
