Ive watched a few motorcycle and trike forums for a while now and really like this one the best so decided to join. HELLO! Everyone seems really nice and helpful here. Im just learning about trikes and the only thing a know for sure is I want one! I have no idea what brand or how much I want to spend on one just yet but I know I will have one before my birthday! Any advice is appreciated.

Hello Tadpole, and welcome to the best forum on the net! There are so many different, wonderful styles (both motorcycles and trike kits) to choose from that you will be sure to find one that suits you perfectly. Have great fun with your choosing, and know you'll have even more fun with riding it when you have chosen! When is the fateful birthday?

Hi Tadpole and welcome to the trike gang...:) Like Nana says, half the fun is doing your homework and trying to decide what you want. Take a close look at your wants and needs from a trike and then start to narrow down your choices. Are you going to take long trips or just cruise around town? Do you want a Harley, Honda, Kawasaki or something totally different? Are you going solo or do you have a co-rider? You see where all this is going...Just take your time, decide what you really need and want, then start looking at what fits your catagory. There are some Dealer/Builders on this forum that can offer great advice when you've made a choice. Great to have you with us !!

Welcome aboard, Tadpole! I'm just a tiny bit ahead of you. Haven't gotten my trike yet but have been doing my homework for a couple of months now.

I started by checking out trike builders' websites--Motor Trike, Lehman, Champion, California Side Car (CSC), maybe some other that don't spring to mind right now. Then I read up a little on different approaches to trike building and, as TrikerJim suggested, gave some thought to what makes and models I'd like--though to tell the truth, if I find a sweet trike and the price is right, it may not matter what model or make it is.

Next up, one or more test rides. I'm hoping to get in one or two at Panama City's Thunder Beach rally, last weekend in this month. I'll report back with my findings. :D

Hey, I have a birthday coming up in a couple of months--maybe my trike will be my birthday gift to myself. Thanks for the great idea!

Welcome Tadpole33, this is a great place to ask questions and find out about trikes.
There is about every trike U might want to look at on here. Go to the Garage and look at the pictures. Then ask questions. Go to any event U can and ride all U can. They are all good trikes manf. U just have to find the one that suits u. Good luck.

Nobody mentioned $$$. Here goes MHO on that subject. Used trike old 1200 Goldwings you will find in the $12,000 range ( not much of TRIKE if it is less than that.) 1500 Goldwings used mid mileage 45,000 to 60,000 miles around $15,000 to $17,000.. Now the used 2001 ( 1800 Goldwings ) that is a starting price of $22,000 up to $ 34,000 all these prices depend on the brand and equipment and condition. The old adage " You get what you pay for" applies. Now when you get into the Harley's take the above $ amounts and add about $3,000 to each. That is the BALL Park you are playing in. There is no such thing as a $8,000 trike. Others I am sure will chime in but as I said the is MHO.<img src="images/smilies/wink.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Wink" class="inlineimg" />

My birthday is December 5th and I have always been fascinated with motorcycles but scared of them at the same time. My brother had one and tried to help me over my fear of falling off of it. I was always afraid I would fall off the back and smash my head to pieces. I know thats silly buts its a fear Ive had my whole life. The weirder thing is I think if I could be the one driving it and it couldnt fall over with me I would love it. OK yes Im crazy.

No... You are not crazy... you are just like the rest of us and have the bug!!! We love the excitement and the thrills, we love the smells and the sights, and we love the freedom and the open feeling that riding gives us every time we put on our helmet and hit the road. Trust me when I say that your fears and even the thoughts of wanting to be in control have flashed through many of us from one time or another. I congratulate you on your honesty and your courage to face those thoughts and know full well that you will be rewarded in so many ways by following your heart and feelings. Just take it slow and be safe. You are doing a great job so far by asking for help from the many experienced riders that make up this forum. Listen to their advice, do your due diligence, visit a local trike shop and if you can, take a certified course using a trike. Anyway I wish you the very best and Happy Birthday in advance.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers as you begin your wonderful new journey!

early this Winter we will have several 1600cc and 1100cc Yamaha Trikes and a couple of Honda 1200cc Trikes. They will be $18,000 and under. The 1987 Honda with 50,000 miles will come in around $12,500. i am not trying to sell you a trike but rather just letting you know what they are costing the dealer for us to build one for them. Buy what you can afford and add what you want as you go along...
